Jason Griffin: I was proud that we fought to get the victory over a tough Baltimore Raven team. We still have to manage to find a running game and stop putting our QB in tough spots. the line protection wasn't up to par and that has to cease. Jay can't go through another season like he had last year. That's unacceptable. I was pleased with Nnamdi. He jsut continues to justify his big contract with both his play and his leadership. Julius was also huge for us as he kept pressure on Kerry Collins all day. I was also pleased with the number of different receivers that managed to catch a pass, I think it was eight. that's good distribution of the ball. As we prepare for the Chiefs, I still want to focus on finding a running game. Ozzie Jones showed some flashes and was inches away from breaking two long runs, but we haven't produced yet. I know it's only one game & the Ravens have a formidable defense, but to contend for the division we need to achieve more balance. Stopping Larry Johnson for Kansas City will be key for us. As a team the Chiefs rushed for over 100 yards against the Redskins, so we need to be aware of that. Also it is their home opener and we all know that Arrowhead is like the Swamp or Death Valley. the fans will be lubricated and will give Kansas City that little extra boost & we have to be prepared for that. I'm looking forward to the challenge. I have time for one question.

John Clayton, ESPN: Coach is Jay Cutler on the hot seat. there were numerous reports quoting a Bronco assistant that you had to be talked out of benching Cutler after his third interception. Can you comment on that?

Griffin: I knew I shouldn't have called on you John. (Laughs) Those reports are accurate. I sat Jay down and told him that I will not sit by and watch his mistakes cost the other men on this team a shot at a victory. he understood where I was coming from and assured me that he would win the game for us. He then promptly led us on a game winning drive. Look when you have a QB like Jay Cutler or Brett Farve, you have to live with brilliance and sometimes brilliant f#*k-ups. We just hope for more of the former and less of the latter. Jay knows that he is the key to moving this franchise to another level. Now I wish Jay would get as much credit as Brett Farve for being a tough son-of-a-gun. He has taken a beating since his days at Vanderbilt, but he keeps getting up. I know that he has the support of everyone in our locker room, but he, like everyone else isn't above reproach. I just had to reproach him Sunday (laughs). Thank you for your time ladies and gentleman.
