First Half Onslaught Charges San Diego to Easy Victory

Denver -- On their second offensive play QB Phillip Rivers found TE Antonio Gates streaking down the middle of the field and hit him for a 60 yard touchdown and the rout was on. San Diego rode Rivers' three touchdown passes to a 31-7 halftime lead and cruised to a 31-13 win over the Broncos. Rivers threw td passes of 60, 32 & 58 yards. The last two to WR Vincent Jackson. RB Ladanian Tomlinson also ran in a 3 yard run for a td. The Chargers had 410 yards of offense and limited Denver to 39 yards rushing. They also held a 2-1 time of posession advantage over the Broncos. Jay Cutler passed for 203 yards 2 td's and a pick. The td's went to WR's Brandon Marshall on a six yard pass and Glenn Martinez on a 30 yard pass. San Diego coach Norv Turner was excited about the win. "Anytime you can win a division game on the road that is a big win," Turner said. A visibly frustrated Jason Griffin was not as excited. the Broncos head man spoke of going back to the drawing board. "We have to go back to basics. The lack of a running game is making our offense too predictable," said Griffin. The 2-0 Chargers host the New York Jets and the 1-1 Broncos host the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
