Elam FG Clips Raiders in Overtime

Oakland -- The Denver Broncos edged the Oakland Raiders 10-7 in the season opener for both teams. Jason Elam kicked a 19 yard field goal in overtime to push the Broncos to the win in an offensively-challenged game. The Bronco defense starred as they accounted for 4 interceptions & 7 sacks. Dre Bly picked off two passes ans Elvis Dumervil terrorized the Raiders offensive line in racking up 3 sacks. Raider QB Andrew Walter finished his miserable night with a 3.0 QB rating as the only Raider points came on two safety's and a field goal. The Denver offense didn't fare much better as they only had 207 yards of total offense. Raider head coach Lane Kiffin said, "This is one of the worst offensive showings I have ever been a part of. We must improve or we are going to have a hard time winning a game this year." Bronco head coach Jason Griffin was pleased at the outcome, but also voiced concerns over his teams offensive performance. "You always want the win, but if we can't give Jay more time & open up holes for our running backs, our defense will have to keep having superhuman efforts like this just to keep us competitive," said Griffin. Next week the Raiders travel to kansas City while the Broncos host the Chargers.
