As I write this blog, I shed a tear at the senseless loss of a human life.
Death, as we are all taught at a young age, usually comes when you turn old and grey -- essentially living a full and long life. I used to take life for granted -- you know, everyday was just "another day". As I got older, of course, my outlook has changed. It came even more so as I heard of the tragic passing of a young pitcher on the Angels - Nick Adenhart.
Of course, why it made major news was that he was a professional athlete. At the age of 22, he was living a dream that as I kid, I shared -- but he was lucky to actually make good on the dream. As a fan of the game, I have heard only good things that were expected from him in the future. Unfortunately, due to the stupid act of someone who needed to be behind the wheel after drinking -- that potential will never be realized. Sure, I root for my team like crazy -- but also being the fan of the game, shed compassion for the loss of a player, a teammate, a son..
This loss throws all those "old" teachings out the window. I take a long look now at the mirror and thank my lucky stars that I can get out of bed in the morning, dress for work, and come home each night. I also realize now that you should tell the ones you love how much you care for them everyday -- because you never know what will happen the next day.
RIP Nick Adenhart... and thank you.

Such a sad story. Really hit home for me because I am 22 years old as well... this kid had it all and it was taken away in the blink of an eye through actions of which he had no control. Scary stuff.
