Two and a half years ago, I fell in love with the NBA and, most especially, the Denver Nuggets. I remember very clearly that it was a cold, snowy February night, and there was nothing on the television. So I decided to turn on the Nuggets-Wizards game smack in the middle of the 2008-09 NBA season, played at the Verizon Center in DC. And the Nuggets killed them. After that game, I was completely enthralled with basketball and I watched every Nuggets game after that. The athleticism, the grace, the wonderfulness of the dribble, the pass, was absolutely incredible as I fell in love with the nuances of the game as well as the overall picture of basketball. During that April, I decided to buy NBA 2k9, and I thought it was a wonderful game, what with the signature animations, the graphics, the gameplay. Everything about it was awesome. During that same spring/summer, the Nuggets advanced to the Western Conference Finals after killing the Hornets and the Mavericks in the 1st and 2nd round(respectively). They did lose to the Lakers in the series, though, 4-2. It was a gift, however, that I got to be excited for the 2009-10 season and whatever potential the Carmelo-led Nuggets would bring. Then NBA 2k10 came out that October, and it surpassed everything about 2k9. The revolutionary My Player was incredible in that game. I kept watching the Nuggets that season, watched Carmelo drop 50 on the Knicks(ironic). That season ended with a loss to the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs, and I was a bit disappointed. But my love for the Nuggets did not dissapitate one bit. 2k11 came out later that year, and that's when I truly thought that the potential for basketball gaming had truly been tapped. The Jordan Challenge, the revamped My Player, the improved Association, the graphics being a complete change from 2k10, all added up to a game that was the best basketball game of all time. And it was. The 2010-11 team for the Nuggets was a troubled one. Early in training camp, a rumor floated around that Melo wanted out. It was very troubling to me, because a lot of my good memories, had been brought on by Melo. I didn't want the Nuggets to be bad. I wanted them to win every single game. I was worried. Months passed of Melo become more and more discontent. And he was eventually traded at the trade deadline in February of 2011 to the New York Knicks for Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, Kosta Koufos, some draft picks, and some cash. A new era of Nuggets basketball started, and the Nuggets were a much better team than they were with Melo. The season ended with a loss to Durant, Westbrook, and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. But I'm more excited than I have ever been with the Nuggets. Now that NBA 2k12 is coming out in just a couple of days, my love for basketball has never been stronger. Even though the NBA is in a troubling phase at the moment with the lockout, 2k12 gives us the chance to bring back those memories of watching and playing basketball about as realistic as you can get with a basketball video game. And for that, I would like to thank 2k sports for their basketball game, for never failing to innovate and giving to the true basketball fans of the world what basketball gaming can be.

Yeah with the lockout it does give me a little more time to play 2k12 rather than watch the Nuggets. Hahaha, but I would probably give up some of that time to have the season start on time.

I've been in love with NBA since I was 6. I don't know what got me into it. I just remember my dad always watched it when I was a toddler and in kindergarten and then one day I went to a little store down the road and they had basketball cards. so I bought a couple packs on a whim and I've been in love with it ever since. The first NBA game I ever got into was NBA Jam 2000 on the N64. I played that game to death. I had a few b-ball video games before that (NBA Jam, Magic Johnson Super Slam Dunk, Tecmo NBA Basketball) but that was the game that really got me going. I also remember watching my first basketball games. The big three I remember is a Lakers vs Sixers matchup back in the late 90's I can't remember which year. I just remember Shaq being my favorite player from that point on. Also, I remember watching the Spurs/Knicks championship game as well as Duke/Uconn NCAA championship game back in 1999. Man, I love baketball.
