Hold The Phone: Holder Goes Down With Injury
Kyle Holder has been the Thunder’s best bat so far, so losing him is a crushing blow to a middling Trenton offense But, on May 9, that’s exactly what happened.
Holder left a game against the Reading Fightin Phils and was diagnosed with a torn labrum. The infielder will miss roughly four months. Holder was batting a team-high .371, with a .841 OPS. He started all 26 games he played. The Yankees’ 2015 first round draft pick finally looked to be turning it around but this could be a big obstacle to his development.
To fill Holder’s roster spot, the Thunder called up 3B Mandy Alvarez, a 17th round draft pick. Alvarez is just 23 but he doesn’t have any notable plus skills.
