June Recap: Mixed Bag of a Month Confuses Fans

The Thunder spent a chunk of June atop the division and they briefly held the best record in the league. When the club lost 11 of its last 13 games of the month, though, fans were dumbfounded. An eight game losing streak was the low-light of the month and now the Thunder find themselves 45-36, tied for second and two gams back of the division leading Fisher Cats.

The pitching is still great. Led by a league-best bullpen, ... Read More

May Recap: Pitching Propels Thunder to a Good Month

A disappointing April had Thunder fans worried but a strong May has restored some optimism to this team. After May, the Thunder stand at 31-23, one game back of the first-place New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

A strong month for the bullpen was largely responsible for the club’s turnaround. The BP has climbed to first in the league in ERA while the starters are still just seventh. Cody Carroll has taken the closer spot, ... Read More

Hold The Phone: Holder Goes Down With Injury

Kyle Holder has been the Thunder’s best bat so far, so losing him is a crushing blow to a middling Trenton offense But, on May 9, that’s exactly what happened.

Holder left a game against the Reading Fightin Phils and was diagnosed with a torn labrum. The infielder will miss roughly four months. Holder was batting a team-high .371, with a .841 OPS. He started all 26 games he played. The Yankees’ 2015 first round draft pick ... Read More

May Recap: Thunder Cool Off After Hot Start

The Thunder got off to a strong start in 2018, winning 11 of their first 16 games. The team has cooled off considerably, though, as Jay Bell’s club finished April 13-11, third in the division and 2.5 games back of the first-place Portland Sea Dogs.

All around, the Thunder look like a middle-of-the-pack team. Their offense is 5th in RS, and then pitching is 4th in RA. The rotation has the 6th-best ERA and looks terribly shaky. ... Read More

July was one long, rough month for fans of the Rockies and the team itself. On the first day of the month, the team traded longtime Rocky Carlos Gonzalez to Washington. The next day, the Rockies got spanked at Coors Field by the rival Diamondbacks 18-2. Adam Ottavino gave up 6 hits and 6 earned runs without getting an out. He was DFAed after the game and cut after he cleared waivers despite being owed a few million dollars. His ERA stood at 8.10 after that outing.

Then, July 12, Geraldo ... Read More

Rockies Round Into Shape With Strong May

A disappointing April left fans wondering if last year’s playoff berth was an anomaly rather than a sign of things to come. With a strong May, Colorado proved that it’s a talented ball club.

After May, the Rockies stand 30-26, third in the NL East behind the 35-21 Dodgers and the 32-22 Diamondbacks.

The offense seems to be getting into gear but a rough April still has them ranked 8th in the NL in RS. They’re up ... Read More

OOTP 19: The Colorado Rockies

Rockies Disappoint in First Month of 2018

After a surprising run to the playoffs last year, the Rockies hope to continue that success in 2018. The team spent a lot of money to improve its notoriously bad bullpen. Otherwise, the Rockies stood pat, much to the chagrin of fans and analysts alike.

With one month in the books, the Rockies ... Read More
