Covering the Florida Panthers in GM Connected league ALHL2
EASTERN CONFERENCE
(1) New York Rangers vs (8) New York Islanders
Battle of New York. We give the Isles lots of credit for a nice season and making the playoffs. But the Rangers will be too much to handle.
NYR wins 4-0
(2) Carolina Hurricanes vs (7) Philadelphia Flyers
The Hurricanes are one of the most dangerous teams in the entire league. They play great defense and score timely goals. Not much of a chance for Philly here.
CAR wins 4-0
(3) Montreal Canadiens vs (6) Tampa Bay Lightning
This should be the best series in the east. Two closely matched teams. The Lightning do have more firepower and we see them getting the edge over a great goalie in Cary Price.
TB wins 4-2
There will be prediction of the Florida-Washington series.

WESTERN CONFERENCE
(1) Calgary Flames vs (8) Nashville Predators
The Flames were stuck in the 4th seed last year, but they made some moves in the offseason and won the top seed out West. As such, they should tear through the Predators. Chara and Weber are a great pairing but still not going to be enough.
CGY wins 4-0
(2) St. Louis Blues vs (7) Detroit Red Wings
This is another matchup we are looking forward to. The Blues are a tough team, especially at home. But Detroit still has talent and given the divisional matchup, this one is going the distance in our opinion.
STL wins 4-3
(3) San Jose Sharks vs (6) Columbus Blue Jackets
Columbus made the 6th seed and had a nice season for their lack of real talent. We expect San Jose to win here, but maybe drop a game in the process. The Sharks will be the wildcard in the West. Can they hang with Vancouver and Calgary. We will see, but first they will take care of the Jackets.

(4) Vancouver Canucks vs (5) Minnesota Wild
This will surely be a fun series. The defending champs will take on rival Minnesota. The Canucks made a huge splash by adding Ilya Kovalchuk. We will see how the team gels for the playoffs, but you gotta expect good things from all that talent. We give Minnesota a decent chance to upset here.
VAN wins 4-2
That does it for Round One. We will have more predictions for every round of the playoffs so stay tuned.
