...Jonesin'....

I'm a gamer. I wouldn't call myself hardcore, but I'm far from a ****** gamer. On average, I put in at least 2-3 hours daily, sometimes more depending on my mood. However, my system is away for repairs and my habit is not getting satisfied.

Two weeks ago, after watching the Panthers get throttled by Arizona, I figured I'd get get some run in NCAA Football 09. My dynasty has been going well and after five seasons, I finally won my first National Championship with ECU (Go Pirates!!!). My dream- to be invited into the ACC- was finally realized and I was ready for total domination.

After turning on my system and adjusting my depth charts, I was ready to get a game going when my PS3 shut down. No biggie. Thinking maybe there was a power surge, I power it completely down and restart. Nothing. Oh my God!!!! What's going on?!?!? After several attempts with no progress, I grab my phone to call Sony, but it was too late. And so my saga begins.

Since I'm a fairly avid reader, I figured the wait for repairs would be okay. I had several books on the shelf that I hadn't even bothered to open, so I knew that at least my time would be occupied. Suffice it to say that two weeks later and two and a half books read, I'm experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms.

It's not as if my days were ever totally committed to gaming. Like I said, 2-3 hours a day was my normal allotment. I've spent a few marathon sessions in front of the TV with controller in my hands, but with a wife and two children, that was always an extreme rarity. The problem is that those 2-3 hours were my 'wind-down' time. After a long day at work dealing with clients and various state, city, and county agencies, I needed that time to 're-boot'.

Today I got some good news, though. Sony has charged my account for the service fee. Hopefully within the next few days, I'll be gaming again. (The Gods are gracious.)

So, if anyone reads this, think of me when you're gaming over the next few days. Not necessarily of me, but of my situation. Enjoy your gaming, guys. Trust me. If you're ever forced to go without it, that's when the jonesin' begins. And there's nothing worse than needing a fix and not being able to get it.

NOOOOOOO, sounds like the red rings of death on my past 2 xbox 360's. Hey I got another idea for you to pass the time. Computer GAmes. Buy a PC controller and go to some websites with emulators and roms, you will be playing old classics to pass the time. Some websites have Tecmo Bowl with updated rosters and stats. I also seen NCAA too.
