(AP) Oklahoma City, OK
In a move that surprised both the ABA and the city of New Orleans GM and Coach Nine9milly made a trade late Tuesday night with the Los Angeles Clippers and GM ABA Smitty. The trade saw superstar and local hero Chris Paul alongside David West, Marcus Thorton and Quincy Pondexter pack their bags for California in return for veteran PG Chauncey Billups, Randy Foye, Antonio Mcdyess and the reunion of coach Nine9milly and the man who he won not only an MVP with, but an ABA title, Mr. Chris Bosh.
Bosh said he was excited not only to be in New Orleans, but back under the leadership of his former coach. Bosh took the floor before any practices could be held with him and the new team against veteran ABA owner Heir Jordan and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who recently acquired the services of Amare Stoudemire in a trade with NY.
The game started out somewhat slow for both teams and especially Chris Bosh who had just gotten off a plane from LA a few hours previous to the game.
Bosh did find his way later in the game ending the game with a team and game high, 18 points to go with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Chauncey Billups, the other key cog in this trade however could never really get it going, ending the game with 4 points on 2-10 shooting and had a handful of assists.
The Hornets did manage to win the game in the end, 56-53 to nab their 12th win of the season and the first with the new roster of players. Good things seem to be on the horizon for the Hornets as Bosh and company settle in. The top dog on the Thunder in this game was PG Russell Westbrook, who looked like a streak of lightning on the floor and ended the game with a team high 11 points.
GM Heir Jordan looked like a new man with his new team and could be a threat very soon with the emergence of Amare as a legit mid range weapon.
The Hornets improve to 12-11 on the season and will look to get hot as this new team gels with each other and becomes comfortable in the new offense. Here is the box score for game, enjoy and as always Stay Classy ABA.
