PES 2018 News Post

It’s hard to believe the European soccer season is almost over. With only a handful of Cup matches left, the doldrums of summer are nearly upon us. Thankfully, the team over at Konami has released a teaser trailer as well as an accompanying press release.

Regardless of how you feel about teasers, any early news at this stage of the development cycle is better than nothing. Even this most recent 45 seconds of cut-ups shown at close angles is enough to entice the most loyal of PES fans while giving those who are new to the series a glimmer into the niche fan base that is PES.

PES looks amazing up close. The problem is that it looks crappy zoomed out. I hope they tighten it up for PES 2018

Adam Bhatti said on twitter that the dev team really focused on enhancing the graphics on wide cam (or other more popular zoomed out angles).

What I don't know is if the trailer was shot on the PS4 Pro.

The return of a stadium creator would be really nice.

Agreed.

That would go a long way towards creating match variety when it comes to things like atmosphere.

would love an online master league mode so that you and friends can do a master league together against each other.

"evidenced by a new fall animation displayed by Neymar"

Does this mean I can now fall on purpose?

Always could

The dribbling improvements are vital. Just not enough moves at your disposal currently, and the 'deft touch' dribbling is far too slow, especially when transitioning from a full sprint. I like the controls, it just needs to be a lot more responsive.

I am very curious to see gameplay next month and adding walking animations may seem like a small thing but it really is going to help the pace of the game. I also hope they expanded team tactics this year.

The walking animations are HUGE, couldn't agree more. It's like FIFA just offers such a wider variety of pace. Id also like to see the tactics refined, and specifically I'd like to be able to install Live Updates with an option of whether I want my tactics changed by doing so. It really killed off the excitement of the option files for me when the creators basically threw in the towel on tactical updates.

Really gonna have to improve graphics quite a bit this year, because FIFA really ran away with that in 17.

Also, "game speed" is tricky because you have to balance out movement with controller input. It's already too easy to keep possession and close down CPU opponents in 17. CPU will need to be improved and focused more at midfield.

They have to fix the "regen" problem. It's terrible!

Looking at some screenshots from youtube video it looks like the att/def level will still be present in pes2018.

Would love to believe that Konami are capable/willing to give us a game with an advanced enough AI that attacking levels wouldn't be necessary, but I don't see it anytime soon.

Just play PES 16, and see what the CPU team does in the final 10 minutes down 0-1. They have the same urgency as if they were up 2-0. Until the tactics are advanced and fluid enough, attacking levels are a necessary evil in my mind.
