MLB The Show 17 News Post

The third of MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty Programs was just released, this time featuring an 86 overall Breakout Doug Drabek. Much like the Chris Archer and Chipper Jones Programs, this one involves multiple modes of play, with the most challenging accomplishments being 15 wins with Breakout Series players in head-to-head online games, and tallying 75 strikeouts with Breakout Series pitchers in Ranked Seasons games.

I am sure some will be frustrated by this program in that there are already two Doug Drabeks available (a Rookie Series version in the Ticket Counter store, and a Diamond version for collecting all Pirates). There have been some complaints about multiple versions of players being released rather than more unique legends finding their way into Diamond Dynasty mode thus far, and so this adds to that glut via a whole program revolving around getting a redundant player. To be fair, how many legends are in the game is purely based on who Sony has the rights to put in the game to begin with, and so if their legend pool does not have the depth to make it through a whole season, this is one way to at least try and extend the life of the mode.

That being said, for those who enjoy the challenge of completing missions to get the XP, players, packs and Stubs, this is another way to spend time doing just that.

Finally, Set 3 of the Standard Packs was also released today, featuring exclusive players Breakout Edgar Martinez and Breakout Bob Feller.

When I first saw the Griffey program I thought it was insanely unattainable. But the more I play, the more it seems in reach. You can finish the biggest time syncs, the three season stat missions, mostly by doing conquest mode and team epic missions. After that there's a few tough ones but they're doable. Granted i don't think I have a shot at it for another couple months but it's def doable.

Of course that's being said before they release the requirements for the Veteren Impact Griffey card. Who knows what you'll need to do to get that.

the diamond Drabek isn't a good card to begin with. much like the diamond CC he is very easy to hit. the 86 will be bad

I've found the Diamond CC to be a really really good card for me.

Completed Pirates and got a diamond Drabek. This task was fairly easy and relatively cheap.
It seems to me somewhat backward to go for a lesser card, and with much tougher conditions.
I just wish there was an option to hide all these programs, now I need to scroll past a dozen useless options (starter, exchange, timed, players....) to check on my career stats.

The 10 HR in 10 BR games looks like the hard one, maybe the 4 hit game and HR with Breakout Griffey as well. Most of the others are just a grind, obviously depending on how you get that Impact Vet card

Hey man I'll use it, but I use like every card. There's enough Diamonds as is, not every Program needs to be for a Diamond or even a Gold.
I didnt say it had to be, but he said you get a diamond, and you clearly do not.

Exactly what im saying for this easy og a program you shouldn't get a diamond. Gor a diamond it should be harder. The point of this isn't to get the 86 doug it is to get 3% to the diamond program.

You didnt clarify at all, regardless, it sucks seeing them beginning to go full on ultimate team mode. Theyre will be consumable boosts and contract cards soon I bet.

They will never go contracts. I mean they could go against their word, but they has been that has been a hard talking point for them ever since they turned Diamond Dynasty into what it is now.

Anyone remember when you used a whole team of created players?

Yes, I am at least happy the created player thing no longer exists -- though I know it has/had some fans.
