Gran Turismo Sport News Post

The Gran Turismo Sport closed beta is scheduled to begin, for selected U.S. PSN IDs on March 17, check out the trailer here, along with more details here.

Quote:
Participants will be able to choose from a select rotation of cars and tracks each day to race online against others during the Beta phases. Track and car selections will vary during this period, and we made sure to offer different race class categories and course configurations to properly test our GT fans!

This will also be the first time users will see how the Driver Profile is integrated within GT Sport. The introduction of Sportsmanship Rating (tracks a player’s behavior and manners on-track) and Driver Rating (represents the overall speed of the player and how well they perform in races) will ensure those that race online will be equally matched, naturally creating a balanced group of competitive drivers for every race.

The initial phase of the closed Beta, starting on March 17, will only be open to selected U.S. PSN IDs, so be sure to check your Messages on the PS4 dashboard to see if you’ve been invited.

As with most Beta programs, in order for the development team to capture data in an optimal manner, the sample size needs to be increased gradually and in stages. While we begin to roll out the Beta, we have decided that the time differences across the U.S. are best matched to the development team in Tokyo.

During the initial phase, our servers will be open for users during specific times across the day. We will share these times closer to the Beta launch across our social channels and GT.com.

And for anyone who doesn’t get a chance to participate in the closed Beta, you can sign up for updates here.

I'm in the Beta, just played around with for a minute. I'm playing on the PS4 Pro and the game looks incredible, don't know if it has any pro features, because my 4k tv auto upscales and there are no options for 4K ect... The Sound has improved the physics as well, no damage yet. This is a video of me getting used to the game, my wheel Thrustmaster 150.

I received a code yesterday. I did the 3 qualifying races then did a few single player races on the only track they give you, Brands Hatch.

Quick impression of the beta: The game looks and sounds fantastic. It feels smooth as butter and the handling is very good. I like how I can adjust the stability on the fly. The A.I. raced great , they made no contact with me and although they did hold their, line if I beat them to the inside of a turn they would back off instead of causing a crash (Forza 6 should take a lesson from this) My only complaint is even on Professional I was able to get into second and even first place in 3 laps starting from 14th. they have got to make the A.I. harder to catch up to. I run long races and I don't want a game where I'll be out front by myself after 3 or 4 laps. Other then that I love it.

If this works this link should take you to a replay of one of my races i posted on FB.

I have to say out of the many racing games I have I am very impressed at how smoothly this game handles and responds using a controller. I am trying to find something to complain about but I really can't, other then the A.I. needs to be made a bit more difficult to beat. I suggested on the Tester forums that they add a legend mode above professional.

That was my biggest takeaway as well. I was thoroughly impressed by the handling and smoothness with a full compliment of vehicles on screen. An of course, how clean looking the game is, in general.

I'm pretty much done with the Beta, or should I say bored with it. They only seem concerned with the online portion of the game for this testing and they shut down the single player mode weeks ago. I've done a few online races but the wait times and the horrible drives make it a waste of my time. Then there are those that know how to set the car up, which is all good but I can't come close to competing with them.

I will most likely pass on this game and maybe pick it up if it ever goes on sale. I'm going to wait for Project Cars 2, looks to be a much better game.

Enjoyed the first 20 seconds of fullscreen gameplay. Thanks for the video
