it is the exactly same thing with brand named gear. the devs had to get permission to implement those items into the game.
SCEA pays to have all that licensed equipment in the game. That's why it wasn't in the game until recently. And why some brands still aren't in the game. They haven't reached the terms needed to allow their product to be used.

And as far as advertising is concerned, real brands ask for money from the company to be shown within the game. Usually isn't the other way around. Only a few brands are willing to pay to be featured within a video game product.

This is one of those areas that would benefit the Show and whatever sponsor was in game if no money had to change hands either way. After a few years of doing it that way, the Show could then become able to be choosy as to who they let in. and even charge for the right to do so.

I brought this up a few years ago. Unfortunately there are legalities with having fake ads as well. Believe it or not. That's why we don't see many.

I was always hoping for fake add, in the same color / style as the real ones.
But if what you say it's true then it's not going to happen.

Too bad, i really like all the work they do. I just don't like seeing too much of the same adds all the time. Somehow it makes the "total color" of the stadium look off (if that makes sense).
There's not enough variation.
But if it's a legal thing then it is what it is.

Glad they made some improvements though I can't say I ever worried about the ads before.

Wish they could do something like NBA does in myteam. You can upload your own images onto things like the scorers table, floor, etc. I wish the could give us the ability to overwrite their fake adds with our own uploads in franchise and play now.

The stadiums in PYS were fantastic. One of several areas where PYS, even on PS3, had superior broadcast simulation over current gen The Show. See also player models (I'm amazed by what they were able to do on the PS3), camera cutaways (reminds me of international tennis TV direction: no need for constant quick cuts and a use of beautiful slow zoom/fade out shots) and proper intermittent light showers instead of unrealistic steady rain to name a few.

Can't say the jumbotron designs have ever really bothered me in The Show though. It's what goes on them that kills the immersion for me. The graphics they use on them look like clip art and don't really replicate the in-park experience at all. I'd prefer the boards remain static over the current implementation.

At some point we'll get real adds I'm sure, just as it was with equipment. Huge discussion on here on why it's impossible until it wasn't anymore and everybody went quiet lol

I would not count on real adds being added into The Show anytime in the near future. Don't get your hopes up.

They will not. To simply go out and negotiate the thousands of deals and pay all of that money just to get real billboard and add placement in a product that is attempting to make money would be a death sentence for a game.

Not to mention how a hefty portion of stadium advertising is focused around alcohol, that wouldn't fly in an E rated product.

Edit: RR beat me to it.

Understandable, but what about user-customized ads a'la NBA 2K? Where you'd basically have preset pixel requirements on each advertisement area and let users upload their creations to those spaces.

Ok so I don't think it'll be each and every real add from every team and ballpark in the game, but rather smth like in nba2K e.g., some real brands repeating in each stadium. I'm certain smth like this will happen at some point. Ppl will keep demanding it on here, others will tell them it's gonna remain impossible, ain't gonna happen, then one year scea will announce it as new feature and everybody will be happy.

We have that now.

There are a few real ads in the stadiums that repeat. They aren't the right real ads that are actually in the real life venues, but they have Topps, State Farm, and others featured within the game.

Yea but rather few, I'm thinking of an amount of adds to fill like 10 ballparks without a single one repeating.

Was Subway a real ad in the game a few years back or am I thinking of something else ?

Stadiums with PlayStation advertisements often have them in the Show with correct placement, such as Yankee Stadium and AT&T park

I've noticed this too, it's a nice touch. I believe they do it at Petco in San Diego as well.

What about fake adverts, like maybe one for Reptile Dysfunction, which would be medicine for you pet iguana, maybe one for PB&J (peanutbutter and jello) or TampX, Tampa's airport.

The Triple Play Baseball franchise had a great collection of fake companies and advertisements complete with "live reads".

Two I can remember off the top of my head are Gamma Airways and Lobster Cola.

This!
And if this is too risky for them hinting too much at the real thing then perhaps an add reflecting a totally different product, but in the same font and color of the real add?
