Mutant Football League News Post

Shortly after my Throwback Thursday article on Mutant League Football, the sports gaming gods answered all of our prayers. One of the most beloved sports games of the early '90s, is finally getting remade. Thanks to the help of a bunch of die-hard fans, creator Michael Mendheim was able to reach his $60,000 Kickstarter goal. If you have yet to donate and are still interested in doing so, click the link here.

After making a small donation to MFL’s Kickstarter, I received a code to play the game in pre-alpha. Here are my thoughts on a very, very early build of Mutant Football League (MFL).

I can agree with this article it felt great to see the game back BUT I would have preferred they created their own universe instead of sort of an NFL type one. But I get it. Hopefully they can get it out on time and reach more stretch goals but game is great from what I've played.

Played a bit of the alpha tonight (you can get access by backing), pretty fun.

Kickstarter ended earlier this month. They met their goal with plenty to spare.

Haven't seen any slacker backer setup, no way to buy into it at the moment.

Alpha keys going out to backers tomorrow.
The User can play a single game against the computer or local multiplayer game against friends (2 to 4 players) or a 1 on 1 online game (we have a little more work to do before we open this up to 3 and 4 players). We apologize in advance for any frustration.

There are also some features that are locked right now because they are not ready for primetime. They will be unlocked soon. We will be updating the build about once a week, sometimes every other week depending on the situation. Every update will unlock new things.
