This is cute, the creators better pray The Shows retro mode doesnt offer season mode or this game could be wiped clean.
One thing ill give it, the rogers centres roof looks a little better than the shows, only for the darkened back round during open domed games.

I got this game 2 years ago on a whim, its really not THAT bad, but doesnt offer much. On top of the bland game play it really doesnt look like much has changed.

on mobile MLB 9innings looks better than this...

It sells on XB1 and mobile platforms, while The Show only sells for PS4.

However, as far as PS sales, I'd say you're right.

If you got XB1 super mega baseball if FREE, for gold of course plus super mega baseball 2 is coming out around the same time for probably the same price. No one should be subjected to buying a 1993 snes port in 2017.

From what I've read SMB2 isn't going to be out until summer (I keep seeing "mid-2017" as a release date.

Looks like there isn't a PC version of RBI this year.

No career play (and I have a PS4), so no thanks!

I have a PS4, so no issues here.

There are many people who won't play a baseball game without the MLBPA though, so there's that on top of SMB2 not coming out until probably Q3 2017.

That was the only issue I had in trading in my PS4. I am no longer a Show player, and that will be tough to swallow for sure.

That being said, I'm on board with XBox One now. Super Mega Baseball 2 will definitely be a purchase for me, but there's something to be said about a licensed baseball game. And the fact I'll be able to get SMB2 and RBI Baseball 17 for the same or less than The Show itself, I'll probably get both!

RBI 16 was on sale for $6 a week or two ago, thought about picking it up for Xbox One, since I don't have any other options on that console.

Not really understanding the hate for this game. No wonder there is only 1 big title for each sport.

Really? thats a bit of a rubbish statement.
If EA got their heads out of their butts and made MVP again, it would eventually become a great tittle again and many of us here would have both no questions asked.

Still mind-boggling X1 doesn't have sim baseball.

Hell 2k once made an annual sim baseball game and two other versions of the BIGS. There has to be some money to be made there.

Since there's been no news about the game's features, I assumed it was basically a roster update. Turns out it's a roster update AND a patch.

All they had to do was give me online, and I'd pay for this, but no online means no purchase!

Bought the IOS version yesterday. Have only played one game so far. Gameplay feels a little better. I felt like 16's hitting was too difficult - you (and the CPU) had to make perfect contact to hit anything with authority. I noticed a new animation where a guy dove and deflected the ball and then got up and tried to throw out the runner.
The negatives were that the sound only works through your earpiece and there was some stuttering in the later innings. I'm assuming that stuff will be fixed in a patch.
As a mobile game, it's fine. I'm almost glad they didn't release it on PC because I would've been tempted to buy it just to have the latest rosters and because the gameplay seems improved, though I know I would eventually get bored with the simplicity. Can't wait for Super Mega Baseball 2 this summer.

As a $5 mobile game, it gets my purchase every year. It's a fun time waster and great for the airport/on a plane.

But that's not how RBI baseball is played. The behind the batter view is how RBI baseball is played.

To each his own. Gaming on my phone is just for a few minutes unexpectedly waiting somewhere. When I know there will be play time on the road (like when travelling) I always have my Vita with me. The versions may not be new, but I'll take slightly aged versions of The Show (15) or Madden (13) over anything current on a phone. For me, sports gaming just cannot be done on a phone. It is the difference between passing time and "gaming." And RBI on a phone does not sound anywhere near the gaming experience of The Show 15 on my Vita. Life is too short for substandard gaming!

I've enjoyed the past several years of this game. I just don't have time for more sim baseball like The Show, even though I've bought the last several years of that game as well. But I'm disappointed to see that it doesn't look like they've added anything to this year's game. I was hoping for an online season mode this year. Being able to replicate what my buddies and I did on the NES way back with RBI 2, but online instead of with paper and pencil, would be awesome.
