The NBA 2K17 Expansion Vlog continues with Mike Lowe taking a look at what exactly happens in MyGM after you actually get through a season (this is uncharted territory for many I know!).

Mike does a good job of exploring the NBA in a fictional future and we also keep tabs of our expansion franchises.

This video highlights a pretty big issue with the trade logic that has been discussed previously, that the AI values the unknown entity of a draft pick more than the prospects already taken in that draft. If you tried to offer the Heat the #10 and a second for the #5 they'll not only decline but probably get angry. However once there's an actual player in that slot, they undervalue that prospect.

Yes, I was seeing that very issue. I was surprised, so hopefully it can receive some attention in a future update/release.

Wait til you get further deep then it gets real ugly

I tried to let the CPU do their thing but my OCD kicked in by season 2 and I had to intervene lol (namely the amount of unrealistic coaching changes/transactions)

Yes, I think it was this episode where I said the handling of the staff is my number one requested improvement for MyLeague/MyGM.

The AI logic with coaches is completely broken. I'm in my 3rd season for MyGM (playing all the games) and Gregg Popovich is coaching his 3rd team. Seriously??

I wonder if that's just 2k problem or a problem for them to giving similar contracts like real life. I've noticed this for a lot of releases and it amazes me how the contracts differs each time you start over. I personally hate it myself.

Personally I can't stand that if I start an expansion MyGM or MyLeague in the offseason. I have the shot at hiring the likes of Pop, Kerr, Kidd, Lue, and Stevens to name a few. Makes no sense and kills the initial realism more than I already am.

So how would 2K fix this? Let's talk constructively here. I like the idea of having a resign phase for staff much in the same way the game does for players. Player free agency works much better than staff.

First they should scrap the amount of coach trades that happen as it happens at couple of times every offseason.

Too many teams acquire someone else's coach whilst that coach is still under contract. This should happen to assistant coaches but not head coaches.

I'll probably compile a list once I'm done with my Association and address every issue that I've come across.

I think coaches need contracts as well as traits like the players. Also, there needs to be more to them than just offensive and defensive grades. There need to be more categories for coaches to be rated in. When most of the coaches share similar "ratings" then they all become interchangeable. I'd like to see that as well as badges. So someone like Pop could have championship pedigree and be loyal. He would never become coach of a team in rebuilding mode.

The fact that 2K implemented multiple generic coaches named 'John Smith' just shows the lack of effort and time they put into these kind of things.

Well in MyLeague you can adjust the aggressiveness that the CPU will use to resign players. How about that option with coaches? Maybe an option to turn off CPU coach firing? If you have "God" control in MyLeague you can go around and ax coaches who have bad seasons if needbe.
