NBA 2K17 News Post

Reddit user upvotd has come up with a pretty brilliant workaround for folks who want to play a season or more with a single player but don't want to go through the grind of the MyCAREER mode.

His solution is to play in MyLEAGUE with a created player with player lock on. Of course, that means you have to manually create a player and place them on a roster -- and then you simply player lock onto your created player. When that happens viola! You have a MyPlayer you can play with and upgrade but without the added cut scenes, gym time, practices, and more of MyCAREER.

How his solution works is to use a spreadsheet system to upgrade your player based on their performance in a way that makes sense (and a way you can work to earn credits in a measureable way).

The system upvotd created allows for player upgrades based on on-court performance. There's even a spreadsheet to make things easier.

You can check out the full YourPlayer system on Reddit right now! Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Been doing this since 2k9

Most of us who play My League have been doing this since player lock. We've been figured the work around for this now it would be nice if someone figured a work around to keep the My Career/My Park/Pro-Am stuff to not interfere with how we enjoy our My League. No I have a fear that this will be to actual post that 2K reads and will screw us even more by removing player lock once they figure out we're getting the same experience without spending money on their precious VC.

How is this a hack? If anything's a hack it's the writer who came up with this title

True been playing 2k this way since 2k14 and have my own career experience with no boosting.

MLB 16 removed a lot of the player lock features not sure what MLB 17 will bring but I hope 2k keeps this flexibility.

I definitely feel like I am out there on the court trying to hustle and build stats through this method of play.

Nba Live 96 allowed for you to create players

I put myself in the game and based on my performances, I added/subtracted from my attributes

Im pretty sure Steve was using 'hack' in the same context of the term 'like hack'....not that you were actually altering the games code lol

This isn't only useful to bypass the story content of MyCareer, but also for kind of like a "Historical MyCareer" similar to Create-A-Legend from older games. Something I do is have a 2000s Roster, then drop my character in the Carter/McGrady Raptors. One of the most fun things to do in this game, imo.

Yep, my brother and I have basically played "my" career in most NBA videogames since games first allowed us to create players.

It's funny how little the developers care about putting out a quality product that their customers enjoy. You have to imagine that at some point, EA figures this whole thing out and puts out a game that buries 2k.

There was a time where Konami was the king of soccer games, and EA was arcade garbage. Then EA put forth the effort to make the best soccer game on the market and blew Konami out of the water.

The difference is, Konami can come back. But because of how poorly 2k treats their customers, the arrogant attitude they take with us, the buggy, glitchy game with legacy issues they release, the constant slaps to our faces, when EA finally comes out with a better basketball game than 2k, 2k won't ever be able to regain the #1 spot. 2k is a game played almost religiously by a user base that almost unanimously despises the company that makes it. It doesn't have to be that way, but that's how 2k wants it to be.

Definitely isn't a hack, just a bunch of people late to the party.

Might have to try this out. The MyCareer archetype restrictions and VC prices are getting out of hand now. Just wish you could import a face scan into this.

You're not getting the same experience because you can't take this player online. For offline players only sure but for online players it's no where close to the same experience

Of course, the OP implied that this would be a very similar experience to the off-line part; this is essentially for people who don't care about online and want a more "old-school" MyCareer experience. It's an alternative way to enjoy no-BS MyCareer that 2k hasn't been capable of implementing due to different reasons, that I won't start telling because it would be like beating a dead horse.

I might try this out if/when I get really bored of my PG. I was thinking about a player lock with some real player, but this "hack" might work well too.

So far I like this idea of playing my league this way. Of course I rather play the normal my league but without carry over saves it feels pointless. The my player approach is cool I have a struggling point guard playing for the nets.

Have been playing this way for years too but not this year so far. My main issue was that I had to player lock to a position and not to my created player, so when my player was subbed out, I had to play with the sub. Is it still the same?

Regarding player attributes progression, can't you just let him progress automatically like any other player? I find it more realistic than boosting him.

Can't you just sim via simcast until your player is subbed back in? didn't try this out myself. I'm more of a 5on5 player.

regarding the use of the word "hack": ****. reminds me of the word "life hack" which is used as some kind of way to describe a useful trick. it is used in german far too often these days...I hate people who use this word.
