Super Mega Baseball 2 Gameplay Video

Metalhead Software has just posted their first Super Mega Baseball 2 gameplay video. The in-game footage is pre-alpha, some things may change in the final release.

The game is scheduled to release sometime in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

I get what they were going for with characters in SMB1, but they were kinda goofy looking and distracted from game for some people. Still played an EXCELLENT game of baseball though. Looking forward to new characters, more teams, more stadiums, more, more more! And co-op!

Love the new art direction... I just wish they didn't get rid of the things that made SMB1 great like the spitting, crying, and grabbing their croch stuff.. That's what gave SMB1 so much character and big reason for Game of the Year. Little things like that add up to make greatness.

I agree on this one. I hope it's at least an option to have regular speed after hit balls. The game is looking good though, and I'm already plotting an edited league with the top 15 or so MLB teams and players!

Lots of changes from SMB1 to SMB2, not sure how I feel about it yet. Going to dig deeper and put together a video with my thoughts tonight.

This is what R.B.I. Baseball should be doing with their game. Simplistic play with a sim feel. If not, just give this game the MLB license.

If this game had the MLB license it'd sell off the charts. I know a few people who think it looks fun, but won't get it because they don't like the idea of playing with a fake team.

Pretty silly idea, but I sort of get where they're coming from.

the only reason i get it is because of the fake players and stadiums.
plus its solid 60fps and you can edit almost everything

I was iffy on getting SMB because of this. But then it came out free with games with gold on Xbox and I loved the heck out of it. They didn't get money from for SMB but I'm sold on SMB2 as soon as it launches. RBI with its MLB license has it's place, but unfortunately that place is in my games available to download, not on my hard drive. I'll still fire up the 360 to play 2K13 if MLB is needed.

I thought the MLB license was available to all parties. Super Mega Baseball simply doesn't want to pony up the dollars for the license is my guess on why it's not a licensed MLB game. I might be mistaken, but that's just my uninformed take.

It's too bad we have to wait until mid-2017. I (like a lot of baseball gamers) will be ready to play in the next month or so as spring training starts.

Licenses aren't given out. They are purchased, paid for.

The team here doesn't want to spend the money. Most likely, if they did, it would detract from the money they spend on other items that make the game the game it is.

I don't want a license. With the amount of editing they are allowing now, I'm sure someone will figure it out for those that badly want an MLB game.
