NHL 17 News Post

The November NHL 17 roster update is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, updating the rosters to reflect the current lineups in the American Hockey League (AHL), Canadian Hockey League (CHL), and European leagues.

Over 550 players were added to the game between the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), Finnish Elite League (Liiga), Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), Extraliga Ledniho Hokeje (ELH), National League (NLA - Hockey Switzerland), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), and Western Hockey League (WHL).

Highlighting the new roster update is Thatcher Demko, one of the top goalie prospects in hockey.

Quote:
Demko, the 36th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, made his transition to pro hockey this year and is lacing it up with the Utica Comets in the AHL. While the 6’4” goaltender has gotten off to a slow start in the AHL as he transitions to the pro game, he is The Hockey News’ second best NHL goalie prospect and is found near the top in almost every goalie prospect ranking.

The young netminder has elite potential and is key cog to the future of the Canucks. If he develops to his full potential, he could be one of the better goaltenders in the game.

Ellis, Russell, and Benik are still missing from the Bakersfield Condors. I imagine there are more on other AHL teams.

Several top draft picks are missing from the Devils organization. LW John Quenneville, D Josh Jacobs, and G Mackenzie Blackwood all should be on the Albany Devils and they're not. The last roster update had them all on their junior teams from last year. Now they've disappeared completely... not even in free agents.

I even started a franchise to see if they were listed in the Devils system under contracts... and they're not.

Good job, EA...

Ian Mccoshen still missing. God damn EA.... he's one of our top prospects how hard is it to add him to the game? Meanwhile u added some random AHL contract players

AHL players who have yet to play in the NHL have to sign their own papers to appear in the game, It's possible that the prospects who used to be on the junior rosters are now in the AHL, have NOT appeared in the NHL, and have yet to sign their PHPA papers, thus having to be removed from the game,

Yes, this is why prospects that were on CHL teams at launch and are now AHL rookies disappear in the first few updates. Legally, EA cannot continue to include them until the PHPA waiver is complete and that's on a player-by-player basis. Hence, some (Demko, et al) make it in and others do not.

I wish they could sign some sort of new deal with the AHL so this problem is solved.

Also, I wish all of that crap between the NCAA and EA never went down. There are so many college prospects these days. It would be awesome to have all those prospects in the game.
