Yep... it sucks mate. I was waiting to start a new Franchise Mode career today after a few weeks break, but I guess I'm back to Fifa. At least they update rosters on a weekly basis.

Does the roster correct the Franchise fighting glitch?

I really wonder why EA doesn't update player height and weight. NHL.com even lists Auston Matthews at 6'3" 216—it can't be a likeness and licensing issue can it?

Highly doubt it

I have a question about rosters. Is possible to play Season mode that updates the latest roster.

I always hated past generations, I'd start a season and end up with outdated rosters after grinding through 82 games.

Net battles change the game for me (more specially the extended stick lifts now).

Best hockey game that I can remember (with the caveat that I play offline only in default Full Sim)

This post may have just pushed me to pick up the game. I've been holding out. This did it. Thanks Millennium! Can't wait to play this weekend.

If you want to see it in action, I just streamed the start of a Panthers franchise. Check it out on the OS YouTube soon (it's processing now)

What I wonder even more than that is why we cannot edit heights and weights this year to fix these mistakes. Is that really part of the NHLPA agreement or something?

You can also check out my dynasty thread in the Hockey Dynasties section where I have extended highlights of each game. This game is a jewel offline, has been since day one.

Agreed. It's been simply phenomenal for me offline.

What period length are you using in Franchise?

Annoying bugs like the three A's/no captains in franchise, all players switching to "never fight," underwhelming roster updates, some wonky legacy animations, and a few legacy AI issues etc aside, the game is undeniably the biggest positive surprise to me of any sports game in a while.

The offline full sim setting is the quietest and biggest leap in gameplay I've seen in any sports title in a long time. It's just so much damn fun with how tactical and nuanced passing, carrying the puck, skating and striding is with the tuning and full collision activation on full sim.

That last part for sure! You cannot just skate around anymore, you have to pass and dump the puck at times or you won't have possession for long. HUGE improvement for offline play!!! I'm going to have to learn to play again, which is great!

I really hope the issues you mention can be patched and will fix a current franchise because I would really hate to start all over again.

While I believe gameplay is a priority and this years offline game is fantastic, NHL 17 has shed light on some serious deficiencies regarding rosters that I really hope sees big changes moving forward.

Now that this roster is out Im working on my rosters because I'm an anal nut job and I'm just flat out disappointed. Here are my gripes;

1) No roster share, we all agree it's high time for this.
2) No player search, this is in most sports games.
3) Inability to adjust simple things like height/weight
4) Serious lack of play by play names...most all other sports games way ahead here
5) Inability to change a players face. Sorry EA does a horrific job with their generic faces on players
6) Inability to distribute colors properly to goal tender gear
7) Missing or inaccurate goalie gear
8) Still seeing backwards goalie sticks and upside down pads for years now

I'm sure there is more but I'm only on my 3rd team and these things just stood out already while fumbling through my tedious work. It just really hasn't changed in years and in fact has in some areas taken a step back. It's in areas like this amongst others where the game lacks depth. Hope this area sees love soon because I think I'm not the only roster nut out there

Yeah I don't get the PbP issues.. why can't someone like Edmunson with the Blues have his name announced? It's not like he's a rookie nobody has ever heard of. Assisted by #6 .. what?

# 39 zukes @ 10/21/16 09:25 AM
The name thing is annoying. That can't be that hard to put in. It just takes time to get the announcers to record names. The Show is the best for that. I have a very uncommon last name, but since The Show is awesome, my name is in the game and pronounced correctly. I was always a little jealous of guys who could create their own guy and have their name announced since their last name was common. NHL (and Madden) should really consider doing the same.

That being said, I am having a lot of fun with this game this year. Madden too actually. They have finally made these games somewhat realistic and fun offline.

It seems odd that they would be that specific about digital likenesses being edited by someone outside of the company, but I'm sure crazier things have happened.

It's frustrating how the customizing is in this game. Creating your own players is years behind, editing current players is frustratingly limited. I'd pay an extra $20 just to get The Show's player editing/sharing abilities in this game.
