NBA 2K17 News Post

Last December, I took over as the producer for MyTEAM, joining a relatively small team of incredibly dedicated developers. On my first day and throughout my orientation when people found out who I was and what I was going to be doing for the MyTEAM group, they seemed to all say the same thing to me: “You’ve got big shoes to fill.” I started hearing it so much that it became a mantra for me, something that I would internalize, think about as I walked from my car to the hangar each morning and as I lay quietly trying to sleep at night.

I'm dying of laughter of people crying about the. locking of players in collections .

these guys ruined 2k15 rewards half way into the season and destroyed 2k16 rewards in such and they still want to cheat the system 1 more time.........

The 25K MT collection rewards is what ruined the 2K15 market, not being able to sell back the Lakers collection after unlocking Byron Scott.

Locking teams makes sense, otherwise it was a free reward and prices got jacked up because people knew they would just sell them back anyway.

Color me impressed 2K, color me impressed.

This all looks great, stat tracking alone sold me on the changes made. Sound like a lot of nice content for offline players and the new "RTTP" mode, MyTeam Online sounds way better. I do wish they would've added in an a single player "seasons" type mode like this.

Very excited to try this all out, the new fonts/menus/colors look so great too.

Ugh just noticed they eliminated all historic bronze and silver players...not a fan of that. There were a lot of notable and useful historic players below gold. Shooting specialists like Hubert Davis or Dell Curry for example. Definitely needed to weed out some trash but that's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Edit: looking at the screenshots of team collections, many are traditionally bronze/silver historic players...so I'm not sure what is actually being referred to in the blog.

I think the trailer was supposed to be the myTeam pack opening by the community day guys (and that one fifa chick) that cashnasty released on his youtube page.

It didnt show anything but those guys opening packs and "freaking" out when they pulled a "probably predetermined" Curry , Lebron, Blake, etc.

Easily the weakest trailer so far. This blog has me more hype for myTeam than the 2 minute trailer.

Yeah that trailer was really not my cup of tea. I guess there is a subset of people that are just into opening packs, but opening packs is too much of a gamble for me. More stress than anything else lol.

About 90% of the challenges in 2k16 were offline, I wish they had more online ones.

Some good additions, I hope MT online has a fixed difficulty setting. Playing online H2H on Pro and All Star settings was terrible.

Are they finally going to give us custom setting play with friends. It sucks being force to play on Pro difficulty settings in Play With Friends mode.

Really looking forward to MyTeam this year and what it has to offer. It sounds more in depth and worth the rewards once achieved. And, since I'm not one to spend extra money in order to buy packs, the new MyTeamOnline will make the games matter that much more to me in order to get better cards.

My favorite thing from that blog was finally getting rewarded for playing defense. I would have great defensive games but only finish with like 600-700 MyTeam coins last year. So this will be a nice addition to the experience. Only a couple more days I can't wait!

Lots of nice improvements. Looks like they will make it easier to generate MT through gameplay and also win worthwhile, higher-end rewards through gameplay.

A couple things not discussed that I was hoping to find out about more:

Custom Team Uniforms/Courts

Will we be able to have more than one stored? Would really be great to be able to switch identities between stored created ones, rather than create them anew if one wants to switch.

MyTeam Blacktop Controls

Would like to know if they still will not allow us to determine our own defensive assignments and settings. I get they want to keep it casual and take out stuff like P'n'R defensive settings or even whether a guy gets denied off-ball or whatever.

But I think we should at least get control over matchups, instead of being forced to go by height. I.e. many times I'll have a team of on which my two shorter players are Isaiah Thomas and Michael Jordan and the other team's smaller two are Chris Paul and Raja Bell. The way it is in 2K16 Gauntlet is that I have to have Isaiah defend CP3, and have MJ defend Bell. But I'd much rather put MJ on CP3 and put IT on the guy who may be taller, but who is not much of a slashing or post-up threat.

They've still tied MT requirements with Domination. That is a shame.

I feel like that mode has a lot more potential if they simply up'ed the difficulty and removed the MT requirements.

Yea they better give us the ability to control the defense in Blacktop. It's gonna be a annoying already with technical fouls in rewards, I hated losing in gauntlet because of being unable to change the defense.

Hoping they fixed the automatic double team when someone drives, that led to way too many easy 3s from elite players when a scrub drives. I want to be able to go man to man.

Dissapointed no era specific Kobe Bryant....I expected Kobe to look like his era specific self

I actually liked the bronze games to a extent. but this takes me back to 2k14. I can't wait for day 1 super teams vs bronzes and the trail card haha
I think they mentioned smart matchmaking to prevent bronze vs super team matchups

Matchmaking based on overall is definitely great news imo. I've personally been wanting something like that since the 2k13. Even longer actually, before myteam even existed. I've always liked using realistic (nba finals level, not all star or dream team) lineups.

I think they're all going to be at least gold now. I'm assuming that the former bronze/silver historic will either no longer exist, or will have a gold moments version of their best season, game, era.

Now I can run my All-Time Knicks squad all year without worrying of running into an all diamond "God Squad"

Am excited.

I was hoping that Domination rewards would reward real basketball instead of just MT. It was just hyper speed fast break, pass to post, turnaround jumper to get assist & post move then let the other team score quickly. Maybe there are some changes that reward MT for margin of victory or strong defense, but I haven't seen anything yet. It was always frustrating to win by 30 and not get enough MT

Sigh, still no real reason to use a wide variety of historic or role players. Prepare for another year of encountering Westbrook/Curry/Lebron/Durant/Davis over and over again...

Im glad you can see your whole team on one screen to manage your lineup. I hope we don't have to collect 100 cards just to create our team jerseys, logo and arena. I only play road to the playoffs. Im gone give some other modes a try this year. Myteam blacktop might be fun.
