Game Informer has posted a new Madden NFL 17 developer Q&A with EA Tiburon's Rex Dickson (creative director), John White (franchise lead designer), and Michael Hoag (presentation designer). The Q&A confirms formation subs will be included in a day one patch. Users will be able to update them from within CFM, including in the menus. Many other items are discussed, so make sure to give it a listen.

Most likely since I seen people do it in 16.

Reading another thread... Sounds like you can not do this.

Looks like we can't. Don't know why we can put a HB at WR but can't put a WR at HB.

so no news as if to they fixed zoom camera in cfm. this is a deal breaker to me. it was 100% broken last year only in cfm and I havent been able to find anything stating they have addressed it.

Sadly no, which is kind of a big deal, also can't bring a safety down to play lb which is actually an ever bigger deal imo

I'd like to know if they've fixed the upside down field in Broadcast view.

As some people have pointed out, no you cannot do this.

It looks like the same standard depth chart restrictions also apply to the restrictions on formation subs. Until the game can be built/played without the fear of cheesing (thanks WR at TE for having an annoying lasting legacy) then the restrictions will likely stay.

You could change him to RB, yet still start him at WR. It would achieve everything in terms of gameplay, however if would likely mess up his progression if he's not running the ball a lot.

So there's sort of a workaround for custom playbooks.

The form subs are formation specific, so any subs that you do in a coach's playbook will carry over to a custom playbook IF those formations are included. What I'm trying to figure out if there's a workaround by picking the formations you want ahead of time, then doing formation subs for each playbook that contains the formation you want to include in your custom, then after all that selecting your custom. Basically, if the subs stick for more than one playbook.

Now that hurdle 1 is cleared, anything on custom packages

Dont know if this has been answered? Are we able to save each teams formation subs or do we have to re do them everytime we start a new cfm? Be nice to lock in all my rbs on all teams to get carries splits every game!

I'll be curious to see whether the AI uses formation subs, or if it'll be a distinct advantage that only the user utilizes.

I don't see anyway the cpu utilizes formation subs. There's no way the AI can say "oh I can get an advantage using player X in this position in this formation"

I've never done a 32 team control cfm but is there options where I can set the teams formation subs but have the cpu take care of everything else?

You can set the formation subs for each team and then you can put auto pilot on for every team you don't want to control.
