These ratings are fine but until I see the "improved pass rush" and the effect these elite players have it is of little importance.

A bit surprised to see Vernon in the top 5...unless the amount of money he makes influences the OVR

New ratings guru on Twitter. Says BG is top 5 because of total amount of Sacks, pressures, and QB hurries.

He also said basically the same thing in this thread

But some of the comments bring up what I think is the problem with spread out ratings and lowering the overall number of highly rated players. It leads to more fans thinking their guy has been snubbed. They may act that way regardless of the scale, but I think it happens less when so many players are rated highly. E.g. I may not care if my guy is rated lower than player X when my guy is still rated 94 overall.

Hmmm.

This is a case where I would love to see how the rest of the top 15 ends rate out because I can think of numerous guys who should be rated right up there with some of these guys. Also seems like we might need to get seperate lists for 3-4 ends and 4-3 ends.

Everson Griffen is a guy I always feel is underrated

Agreed. 3-4 ends have more in common with DTs, while 4-3 ends are more akin to 3-4 OLB.

But then again, these top players lists aren't meant for us.

I wonder where my boy Derek Wolfe ended up. He's not the kind of guy who lights the world on fire with his stat line but had a really good season all things considered.

Hopefully in the 83-85 range

If this is true, how in the world did I miss it, lol. Is this clearly explained somewhere and I just brainfarted?

i hope not, would be a waste of reveal. They didn't do too LTs and top RTs. You know, the closest LE is 6th on the list.

I don't think it's true. The blog says best defensive ends.

I'm thinking this as well. Top 5 DE being all RE?

# 36 crackdownjr @ 07/27/16 04:13 PM
Not sure if LEs are being revealed separately or if they're just lower rated because they play against lower rated RTs. Either way Mo Wilkerson has been a force & should be a top DE no matter which side they play on, along with some other guys (Griffen, Ansah, Bennett, etc).

I don't think so. He's still under the top 5 REs, so there's not going to be a LE reveal. Top 5 LEs will start at like 90 and go into the 80s, doesn't make too much sense to me.

They wouldn't seperste them if they didn't do that for OT and OGs. Also, they could've done best 3-4 DE and 4-3 DE but didn't.

I thought we might see the first player to make All Pro at DE and OLB in the same season on this list...

He's a OLB in the game

Yeah, this is interesting. The drop from Watt at 99, to the next guy at 93 is... odd. Interesting though. Again, hard to tell without seeing the rest of the ratings for all DE's. The one I struggle with here though, is Vernon. I think he's over-rated, and is going to be a big FA bust for the Giants.
