If you base the all-encompassing "everyone" around forum opinions, then sure, there were probably a large majority that didn't. Forums don't represent the bulk of the consumer though, and if you speak with that crowd (I.E. at work, etc), you'll hear a much different tune.

The bottom line is this... If there wasn't a fan base for a feature, said feature would cease to exist. In this case, if EA didn't believe this type of feature would be a selling point to the general public, it wouldn't be added.

My guess is this new mode, combined with the revamped graphics, will boost this to one of the best selling FIFA titles in quite some time.

Considering 2K admitted the feedback was bad, I'd say the majority and not only from forums, did not like it.

FIFA fans overall, buy it for FUT. Most will likely not even touch this mode. Others will stick with manager mode.

People hated the character's name but pretty much liked the story mode.

This mode looks really cool on the surface, but we as consumers should take it with a grain of salt. To be fair all gaming companies/ film companies can make their product look shinier with a good looking trailer. Basically to me it seems like a more cinematic "My Player Career Mode" without the ability to choose your player's name, appearance and limit your player to playing in the Premier League. However I do see potential additions from the trailer which could transfer to other modes such post match interviews. I'm going to try not to judge this "new mode" until the final game comes out.

Of course there's zero mention of changes or improvements to manager mode.

Shocking. Oh wait, not shocking at all. Another stupid gimmick no one asked for while game modes people want to be fixed are likely ignored

Could care less about this feature. Gameplay and career mode needs to be the focus.

2k15's story mode was 100x better than 2k16. It was the first year they had it and it was amazing. 2k16 was very scripted with barely any decision making.

I personally couldn't stand it, but that had more to do with Spike Lee's "style" than any kind of forced narrative. I actually have high hopes for FIFA's story mode.

The story mode looks good but the cloth physics look real bad.

I'm not a FIFA player but playing NBA2K16 I had to come check this out and see what it was about. First thing... being stuck with a forced character and story line is just horrible. Thing is, these type of story modes can work given if the User has control in how it plays out via branching stories. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in FIFA and if the FIFA crowd likes it or hates it as much as the NBA2K fan base hated it.

Well given the option, would you rather be Alex Hunter or Frequency Vibrations?

Couldn't care less about this. One of the attractions of sports games for me is that I can get away from the ham-fisted and mostly amateurish storytelling in video games.

If you're going to do this sort of thing at least have the character be customizable. I suppose there is an audience demanding the mode, and I admit my tastes are certainly niche when it comes to what I like in sports games, but I don't see the value of a goofy looking interactive movie jammed into a sport simulation game. I could never get over how awkward, cliched, and plain janky looking NBA 2ks story mode was/is. It felt out of place in the game.

I'm sure he probably meant Manager Mode.

It sucks that we apparently can't change his appearance or name, but at least this gives me hope that they improved " be a pro ".

That mode was basically unplayable every year because your rating would just tank the whole game.

With this story mode having objectives like needing to finish with a certain rating, it gives me hope they improved(fixed) that, otherwise this Story Mode will be unplayable as well.

I personally don't care about this. I hated the 2k16 myplayer story, I hope this is not like that.

Not really. Most people did not like it.

Ask the millions of people who get MLB The Show for the Road To The Show feature or NBA2K for the My Career mode.

At first I got really excited when he started hyping it on stage and the trailer started, but once I realised you have to be "Alex Hunter" I lost a bit of interest. I'll probably still play it, and hopefully enjoy it, but I'm not all that excited about it. It could still be fun though.

RTTS is not a story mode, though. It's not a scripted tale.

And didn't 2k16's story "end" after the second season, and then you would play on sort of like the old MyCareer mode? You were stuck with Freq, but still.
