NBA 2K17 Cover Athlete is Paul George (Standard Edition) Kobe Bryant (Legend Edition)

Paul George is the cover athlete for NBA 2K17 (standard edition), leaked yesterday, but officially announced during the NBA 2K Road to the Finals Championship game a few minutes ago.

Announced in April, Kobe Bryant is the cover athlete for the Legend Edition of NBA 2K17, check out those details here.

Also noted yesterday, Paul George is wearing the Team USA jersey in the background, possibly hinting at the Olympics being involved in the game this year.

Think Paul George is worthy. Great player, and someone who we haven't seen.

and even if you hate him, there are some AMAZING custom cover creators here, sure they'd be happy to make one of a player of your choosing. With LeBron being on the cover for 2k14, someone made a dope Bosh 2k15 cover, and I went with Wade as a 2k16 cover.

Can't believe no one saw this coming. This dude has been a part of 2k's marketing for years and the cover for the MYNBA2k16 app only confirmed it for me. Of all the guys involved heavily with the marketing over the last several years, he was the only one not on a cover. Steph, AD, Harden, Rose, and KD all ended up on a cover. It was the only logical next step unless they pulled a 2k15 and gave Steph a solo cover. But even then KD had a year break before his solo cover came between 2k13 and 2k15.

i'm very surprised, skill wise he deserves it no doubt, easy bet was Curry or Lebron, or MJ of course, i personally don't care about the cover, but i guess there are some people that buy it because of 1 player, or don't buy for that reason

will there be footage at E3?

I have to admit that PG13 is deserving more attention. 2K17 cover visibility is a great accomplishment and one that shall live on and on.

However, I find it ironic that there are only three cards of Paul George in 2K16, yet looking at Damian Lillard's cards there are TWICE as many. Lillard's had more epic Moments than PG13???

My concern is not with Lillard being slighted or more deserving, it's about the lack of love for Paul George in 2K16. I'm stumped.

PG13 is definitely a star calibre player in this league, so I feel like this is a good choice.

I didn't even have him on my shortlist of guys to make the cover, though. Lillard, Leonard and Russell Westbrook were on my list.

Do they usually have a player (like Lillard) that was just on an EA cover on their cover so quickly? I know it's happened with guys like KG, but I don't think it's too often.
