PES 2017 News Post

Konami has just announced PES 2017 and revealed some of the new features and details about the game. Check it out and post your thoughts!

Real Touch

See how different players control the ball in unique and different ways based on where and how you control them, dictating the flow of the game based on how they react to the unpredictable movement of the ball.

Precise Pass

Combining Real Touch and real ball physics, passing is an art form in PES 2017. Many factors determine the speed and accuracy of the ball. The pass that is made on the best situation and timing will generate a perfect trajectory, creating a great satisfaction when a killer pass is made.

Goal Keeping

Keepers see a great jump in quality through added motions and animations, creating the most agile keepers in PES history. Attacking moments will be more dramatic than ever, bringing the best feeling of achievement when that goal is scored.

Total Team Control

Users can instantly change the attacking and defending mentality of the team, which can be tweaked and carefully controlled with simple controls, being able to immediately react to the unpredictability of the sport.

Advanced Instructions

Strategies that are quite individually defined such as Tiki-taka and Tight Marking which is strongly based on team ideology can be set in Advanced Instructions, which adds a huge variety in how you plan to win.

Corner Kick Strategies

Control the defensive strategies on a set piece, such as marking zonal or Man to Man. Offensive options also included such as specific player movement.

Adaptive AI

For the first time in a football game, the AI will learn how you play! Player and team behaviour has always been a staple of the PES series, and for PES 2017 Adaptive AI will change sports games forever.

Authentic Visuals

For PES 2017 the visuals have seen a major upgrade, offering Authentic Visuals thanks to the further incorporation of Fox Engine. Nothing has been left untouched, from player models, lighting, crowds, pitch and stadiums totally revamped. Never has a game looked so real.

Natural Player Movement

Hundreds of new animations have been added to bring the players and goalkeepers to life – but it doesn't stop there. New features such as Real Touch and Precise Pass see huge benefit, giving a vast array of movements when trapping and passing the ball.

Bah. I wish they did something about the officiating. PES 5 was probably the last one where the fouls were spot on. You could play a 10 minute match and each side would have about 5-7 fouls. One of the biggest problems is when the ref plays advantage. There needs to be a bigger gap as to when the ref decides to blow the whistle.

Prefer PES over FIFA but really getting tired of not being able to play my three favorite leagues: Premier League, Bundesliga and MLS. Also would love to have the Copa America tournament.

PES just doesn't have the resources to compete with FIFA with licenses. Looks like they are adding some though. Screenshot shows Arsenal in the game, for example.

Konami no longer has the J-League license.

I don't necessarily think that means they are adding more. There are usually 2 licenses teams from the EPL each year so I assume it will be Arsenal and one more but hope I am wrong.

I wish that Konami would land a major league license, like the Premier League, but thankfully at least the kits are the only thing that need to be created. I think it would be great one day to see PES land a Premier League license with Sky Sports presentation, but EA will have a monopoly as usual in that regard.

I do hope that they do fix the ref issue, with the lack of fouls, and the play of the goal keeper. I managed to enjoy PES 2016, so I remain hopeful that they will add more and build towards a top flight product.

I'd like to see them add generic leagues for Germany, Japan and MLS. And completely overhaul ML. Not that crap fake bs new skin overhaul they gave us last year. I want a completely new ML setup. From the ground up. And of course fix the tactics not fully working, the fouls, and the insane amount of perfect goals in the corner.

I don't understand why they don't give us a ton of fake leagues. They know the community puts in work but they don't give the community the tools to make this game great.

EA has exclusive license on BPL and Bundesliga.

Konami should get exclusive license on Serie A and La Liga to answer EA's call.

You can add La Liga to that list:

IGN Video.

- Love the first touch control focus. This has been my focus in FIFA (FT Control Error at 100), to create slower gameplay.

- Like the focus on slower gameplay.

- Staying on the love of PES "identity, soul" - good talk, may be cheesy, but this is football - it's all about soul.

That teaser was garbage they came out with but according to most who played the game, it was a pretty bad representation of what it is actually like (I honestly think they threw it together 2 days before E3, haha). But love the stuff Adam and the rest of the community are talking about when they describe how the game plays. A lot of guys say you really need to break down the defense with passing and cleverness. Also, they mentioned the tactics really work and change the way your team plays. *double boner* haha.

p.s. Matt, have you tried your sliders on Women's game in FIFA 16. Just tried it on legendary on slow and it was WAY too slow but upped it to normal and played pretty good. Possibly better than the Men's game, so I changed it back to defaults and played at normal speed and was like damn this is pretty decent too. Tried Men's game, normal speed and default sliders, was complete GARBAGE, awful! Man, those sliders made a huge difference but seems like they patched men's gameplay while leaving women's how it was from the start. Random but my wife doesn't care so I had to share with someone, ha.

Agree with your comments on PES, man. I'm definitely excited to hear about that. My wife doesn't care how excited I am about PES either, lmao.

I believe the women's game is how the men's should play. If you think about it the ball looks bigger, that alone makes it feel like PES actually. I believe in the code the ball size is slightly bigger and heavier, I'll have to take a look. That alone, as simple as it sounds, could be why the women's game plays much more organically.

The fact that Jose loved it has me excited. I spoke to him about PES 2016 last year and how he felt about it and he didn't like last year's game so his thoughts on the game have me looking forward to the demo.

Very informative as far as the new PES 2017 sounds, esp in regards to refs calling fouls against the CPU !!! However, 2 of those guys need to tone down their profanity, please !!!

I haven't listened yet, but is this that one guy that's always saying "s*** yeah baby!!!"? I listened to another PES podcast back in the day and that dude was a huge turn-off. No need in a sports gaming podcast.
