MLB The Show 16 News Post

Max Scherzer struck out 20 batters last night, tying the all-time record.

While Scherzer's performance wasn't the greatest of all-time for sure, he still put up a plethora of impressive stats.

Zero walks. Twenty-four of thirty-three batters faced hit with first pitch strikes. Only twenty-three balls thrown.

That's the type of stats that, if you had them in The Show, you'd instantly start adjusting the control slider to make the game more realistic. Scherzer isn't the only pitcher tearing it up this year, so is Jake Arrieta of the Cubs.

In your time playing MLB The Show 16, have you had a performance similar to that of Scherzer's 20K performance Wednesday night? Let us know in the comments if you've done anything similar!

Wow, given his ratings, that was some serious pitching!

Yes! Considering how Severino is doing in real baseball, I think he would be very happy to know how he's doing in The Show

Perhaps the batters were horrified by Scherzer's claw hand after every pitch??

Seriously, when is SDS going to fix that hideous animation?

This has been my best outing so far. 11 Ks, 1 hit, 1 run game with King Felix.

Great thread idea, i use all teams and now will start tracking this. I don't think i have hit double digits yet.

Just put up 9 k's in a losing effort with Kershaw. Using Amor&Swords set up with HOF pitching

Couple weeks ago, I got 17 Ks in a perfect game with Matt Harvey against the Brewers in Franchise mode. Playing as the Mets in franchise means I usually have a good shot at 10-12 Ks per start, but like someone said above, it's hard to get that sweet spot of lots of Ks without the pitch count going through the roof.

Wow that's impressive. I feel like I always give up a minimum of 5 runs with him every time I throw him.

Can we throw hitting performances in here, or is this just for pitching?

If so, a 1B I drafted 2 seasons ago went 4-4 with 2HR's and 7 RBI in his debut on opening day. He ended up finishing the month of April batting .194 with 2 HR's...

Best I had was with Ventura and went 7 IP 12 K's 2 hits and 0 runs. Wish I could have gone deeper but with all the K's his pitch count was already around 110 so I pulled him after 7.

27 up 27 down all on Strike outs with Noah Syndergaard, year 3 of doing a mets franchise mode on all star difficulty, his development is ridiculous and it was his first of 4 straight Cy Young Awards

I remember a few years ago when Zack Greinke was on the Brewers, he struck me out close to 20 times (19, or maybe 18, I've tried to supress that memory as much as possible).

Sounds like Tuffy Rhodes has a younger brother.

In terms of strikeouts? 18 with Drew Hutchison of all people (has developed into an ace quality pitcher in my carry over save from 14).

I still think my best game is from 12 though. Henderson Alvarez pitched 9 innings of inter-league ball, striking out 12 and giving up two hits (a bloop single and a double) and no walks while batting in 2 to win 2-0.

Funny, cause he also pitched my most heartbreaking game, which was also inter-league, where he pitched 9 innings and gave up 1 run (0 earned) on no hits and no walks and went 4 for 4 at the plate and lost 0-1.

I've been playing The Show for about 3-4 years and finally had my first perfect game this year. Nathan Eovaldi vs the Rays; 86 pitches, 16ks on All Star Dynamic Difficulty. I've had 15-18k games in RTTS.
