NBA 2K16 News Post

As mentioned earlier today, the NBA 2K16 patch #6 has already arrived for PlayStation 4 users, weighing in at 2.4GB. As soon as we get the patch notes, we will update this post. Until then, let us know what you are seeing.

Xbox One users will see the patch later, no official ETA has been given.

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.
  • Updated player portraits for a number of players.
  • Tuned the effectiveness of long outlet passes for players with the Break Starter badge.
  • Delay branching from Kobe Bryant Back size-up.
  • Re-worked size-up dribble launches to prevent unnaturally explosive first steps.
  • Tune miss chances for deep downcourt and cherry picking.
  • Dock vertical and rebounding when you go behind the basket. Don’t reset 3-in-the-key offense timer in baseline behind paint for human controlled blacktop players.
UPDATE #2: The patch has arrived for Xbox One users.

UPDATE #3 (5-19): The patch is now available for PC users.

You can still speed burst when you properly blow by someone with the correct moves. Pre-patch you can initiate that speed burst just dribbling which exploits the defense.

Klay in this highlight is much, much faster compared to that video. In fact, the whole game, the player movement is much faster than in that video.

And Klay and Tim Hardawary Jr have similar ratings for speed/quickness/acceleration/ball handling in 2K16 AFAIK.

Played one domination game and it feels slow like hell now...

The ability to throw the ball from baseline to baseline with precision/accuracy to an awaiting cherry picker is probably what annoyed me the most. Breakstarter became the ultimate badge. However it shouldn't work EVERY TIME!! I'm glad 2K has tempered that badge. I now can go back to my dominate inside Shaq like Center without the break starter.

Yeah that sucks to me. I've been hearing from friends that I play w/ on Xbox. If you can't launch out of a move anymore, I hate to say this is a bad patch and a bad way to end 2K16.

I honestly would rather deal w/ speed boosters than having explosions taken out of the game completely. I am not a speed booster either but doing all of this, I think most people that really wasn't advanced at dribbling and couldn't really defend would be 100% happy w/ this patch.

2K only did this for that one reason I believe. Just wait and get it right not put a band aid on it that'll stop some from players playing like themselves. Now it's not going to be the same playing CPU players like Wall, Russ and Kyrie that would explode out of size ups. Just another year exploiters ruining everything smh.

Yeah and that launching looks terrible out a size up which realistically happens and was able to be defended. Even the CPU did it. Problem was people online abused it using Kobe's stuff and going back and forth. If they would've just slowed down Kobe's that would've helped a lot.

Two things in ProAm I would love to see added:

1. PROAM rep.

2. Couch co-op.
The ability for 2 users to play pro am on the same system.

I have played the game after the patch for a few hours, I played Park, two play now games online, and one offline game.

The movement is fine, seriously sick of the whiners on here. If you can't explode out of a move, it's on you. I played as the Blazers and was able to get by people and breakdown defenders using Lillard and CJ.

To those that haven't even played with it yet, please stop talking about it before even experiencing it.

The game is great after this patch and has really brought back the Park for me. I'm going to actually make a guard now and enjoy beastin on people the right way.

I'm not going to watch that entire video and try to pick out the exact moment you are talking about

Park is more enjoyable. One of the homes said steals felt better last night. It's not that steals got bumped, it's that these speed boosters have no idea what to do. They dribble into crowds, spam easy dribble moves. Cookies all day.

You don't have to play it lol. If you watch it and actually experienced w/ 2K and its animations you'll know the explosion I mean that like, I keep saying, some CPU AI players like a Lillard did and would do IRL. Never did I question if you can get past people.

I feel like all they removed were unnatural bursts
That was horrible user defense showcased moreso than it was a launch because you were left wide open with so much space to go. The launch itself was still at such a slow pace it didn't even register to my eyes like a "launch" - the progress was so casual and monopaced - not a word but got to use mono to describe how there is almost no noticeable inflection in the launch.

I'm "experienced" with 2K, been playing it for 10 years, and I know the animations.

I'm still able to explode with players and do dribble moves and animations fine. I think this patch only made the game better both online and offline.

And yeah watching is definitely not the same as playing it, thanks for the unnecessary jab though.

How much faster could he have realistically "launched" from almost a full stop?

And mono means 1, saying he is moving one-paced doesnt even make sense.

"inflection in the launch" - what are you even talking about man?

I'm not throwing a "jab" at you. I am saying, if you know the animations you'll know what I mean by exploding out of a move aggressively. Not that video of what 24 posted. I never seen Russ "explode" that slow lol. It's a certain animation.

Again, my issues aren't w/ dribble moves man. Keep up. And watching and seeing that you can't do what I am talking about. Why would I need to play when I see you can't launch out of a size up, its not the same lol? Me playing that is going to change it? Stop it.

I think we have a difference of opinion man, I know what you're talking about.

To me it seems fine, the overall explosiveness of players in this game could be better in general. Someone mentioned maybe having a new rating that differentiates first step from acceleration or something. It's definitely not real life like with the ability to cut and drive out of a size up but I can see what 2K is trying to do but limiting some of it because people will exploit any and everything. It's sad really.

No offense taken, just healthy discussion back and forth.

I understand. And don't get me wrong, I don't like that the animation is gone. But I am also happy speed boosting back and forth is gone. But like I said, I think 2K was just trying to fix it before the RTTF Tourney. Honestly, I think they should have slowed that animation down if anything and waited to fully fix in 2K17, but to remove it completely is disappointing.

But man is it entertaining hearing the speed boosters get upset. This video has a lot of them mad on Twitter because it's acting like its a video on how to speed boost now lol:
