Nice to see peripheral elements have updated graphics, but man I don't see myself spending much time staring at the outfield statues or bullpen telephones. More interested in improvements to grass and player models.

Fix the jerseys that dont have names. Numbers are still way too low.
Agreed, its nice its there and all (PBR) but this was very minor.

One thing I do wonder about the PBR stuff is how close up they make the lightstands look, whenever you go to a ballpark lights are a big deal in terms of ambiance. MLB 14 saw decent 3D improvements but still lacked excitement or "pop" they look good but not life like, hopefully PBR brings lights to the next level, its too hard to tell through streams

Glad they fixed Oakland's batting helmets this year!

So lets be honest, 14 pretty much looked like a PS3 game for the most part. In 15 they rebuilt the stadiums from the ground up and they looked amazing, and they "cracked the code" on the lighting, and that stuff looked great. Now they've added PBR and everything they've shown so far using PBR looks fantastic.

Hopefully this means that in 2017 we can FINALLY get new player models and fix the way the players themselves look, because they stand out BIG TIME next to all the new great looking stuff. I also think the grass and dirt could use an upgrade, so I'm PRAYING that the player models, grass, and dirt are what gets focused on in 17 because it seems like everything else is pretty much covered at this point. Everything else looks so good now that it really looks like they have the old PS3 players running around in a PS4 game.

I still don't understand why they have yet to improve the player models this generation. It is strange to put so much time and effort into things we very rarely see during gameplay, while we are forced to look at "fat" player models (see Miggy) due to the game having only three body types. Just look at the improvements 2k, Madden and NHL have made with player models for the PS4 and XB1.

Go to YouTube and look at some videos from previous MLB games and you will be surprised at how little the player models have changed. I just watched a MLB 11 video and the players look exactly the same. We should expect more from MLB, five years is an eternity in the video game world.

Player models in baseball games are very large onscreen due to the batter/pitcher interaction vs the other sports game where the players are much smaller to provide a full field view of the game. Yet, MLB has decided not to improve them for over five years. Puzzling choice.

They've explained this many, many times.

Game looks very good indeed. However, I really hope 16 is the last iteration of MLBTS on PS3 so they can fully devote themselves to PS4 and harness every resources out of it.

they said as long as they continue to get people to purchase the game and still make money for them they wont stop it. so all you can do is hope people on ps3 not buy 16 then they would focus all on ps4 version.

Have they? Maybe I'm blind, but I've never seen the devs mention why we can't have new player models before.

Can't believe no one has talked about how good the top of the twins dugout looked. That was the first thing that really caught my eye. Game looking good like always !

They'd have to redo almost all of the animations.

That was my thought as well.

One new body type would need all the thousands of current in game animations created for it because that body type could technically show up at any position.

Yes. They'd basically have to redo every player animation in the game, and would hardly be able to make any other graphical improvements. Ramone has answered questions regarding player models on here in the past.

Ok so I understand having to redo all of the player animations would pretty much use the whole cycle and would probably be the only thing they would be able to update...but where does that leave us? I mean when would be the right time to make the changes and update the models? Because it has to happen eventually

My guess is when they get all of the other graphical improvements where they want them.

Redo every animation? I find that hard to believe. If 100% true, it means that the MLB team would have to throw out 10,000+ animations that they have worked over almost 10 years to build for the game and create 10,000+ new animations in one development cycle when they update the player models. I'm not a programmer but that statement by the MLB team sounds crazy.

Every year they state the over 1,000+ new animations that were added to make the gameplay smoother and more realistic. So they would have to throw all of these animations out and just start over? Look at NBA2k, Madden, NHL and FIFA, they have all updated the player models and continue to use legacy animations from the previous gen consoles.

I would welcome some insight from someone with programming experience. I just can't believe that every animation would need to be redone.

Also, forgot to mention that when the MLB team fixed the "raptor" short arms problem awhile back (think it was around MLB 11), they do not need to redo all the animations in the game. So, a change in the player models did not equate to an entire animation overhaul.

No sunflower seeds on the dugout floor!?! This game is so unrealistic...
