EA Sports UFC 2 News Post

The EA Sports UFC 2 trial is available now for EA Access subscribers (queue it up here), a day earlier than expected, which is typically the case nowadays. Subscribers of the Xbox One exclusive service, can play the full game for 10 hours.

Quote:
The ten-hour clock only ticks when the game is open, so if you want to conserve your time, make sure you close the game when you're finished playing. If you continue the fight once UFC 2 releases on March 15 - all the progress you make carries over, including Career Mode advancement and UFC Ultimate Team. EA Access members also save 10% when they buy UFC 2 digitally, just like with all EA digital purchases.

If you're a subscriber, download it and post your impressions!

Hmm. In Madden, I could never do that. My profile was tied to my gamertag. So if I started a franchise on profile # 1, used my 10 hrs and purchased more hours with profile #2....I couldnt access my franchise on profile 2. Same with Fifa.

Thanks man. Still a long way to go especially with the AI. I'm excited to see what Skynet can do to improve it post release.

They are pretty difficult, I'd say. My main issue with them is that this whole Guess The Circle Submission System really takes away from actually observing the submission itself. I mean yes, you get to see it on replay, but seeing the two fighters struggle and having one lock it in, witnessing the wincing pain seems to get really taken away. You're so focused on the submission and by the time you pull it off, it's gone.

Speaking of which, one of my other minor gripes is with how replays depict a fighter getting finished - the KOs look amazing on replay, but the "finish-the-fight punches" that end a fight look weird. It's almost like the punches don't have that same impact versus seeing them in regular motion.

That said, I love the game and love how much more straightforward the ground game is. Will likely end up loving it just as much as UFC Undisputed 3. Mostly great work to EA and the team!

Completely agree. I hope they overhaul that with the next game. On replay some of the punches look they dont even land.

Quick question (if it's been answered before, as it's probably a popular one, and you might want to e-smack me, I apologize!), will one be able to acquire Tyson, Bas and Sakuraba in the game if they don't preorder? I'm likely not picking the game up right now, because I'm extremely busy for the foreseeable future and don't have time to play (unfortunately), but I don't want to miss out on the preorder bonus.

You will likely be able to buy them in the fighter store soon after release. Same thing happened with UFC 1.

I'm enjoying the game, and learning as I go. I'm ok with the stamina so far, but really wish my counter to a guy that is exhausted just levels him.

One thing I really dislike is how you get stuck in the mud after stunning a guy. Just let me finish him off.

Got a question for those playing.... can you safely say the Pro level a.i. is for a fact better in UFC2 than it was in UFC1?

No, I would say hard is better then pro right now. There is something wrong with pro, as I find it easier then hard

A Rousey armbar from mount with an opponent nearly gassed is alomst an instant win. Where as a Tate guillotine from guard with equal stamina is gonna be pretty tough to finish.

This game is undoubtedly fun to play - unfortunately it is very clear that they are just not that invested into Career Mode as a dev team. I do like the training system and it's simplicity.

There is very little to actually look at in the mode - whether it's your own fight history, or even reviewing PPV results. Then again, this is the same company that won't even let you view transfer history (!!!! seriously!!) in FIFA.

Finally my hands will be unleashed again at midnight. I've been on the sidelines too long. I'm ready to roll

That's a shame about not seeing fight history, etc.

Guess I'll be recording/streaming a lot.

Is it possible to KO an opponent in KO mode in FEWER strikes than the set amount?

P.S. Pappy, get your practice in now. Once I get the game, you're in deep trouble.

Lmao. I'm ready, man. I remember last time we fought you kept taking me down with Edgar and it totally ****ed with my head. I must be prepared for all tactics against you now.

Had 3 fights online. One thing that became very apparent to me is that I'm going to have to figure out something to stop the Thai Clinch. The animation is fast and there doesn't seem like much of a window to deny it. In each fight my opponent tried using it over and over. Am I alone in my thinking here?

This is a damn good game online.

There are some serious oddities with career mode. The stand up defense tactics Training is just crazy. Your training partner is waaaayyy too passive. I'm just basically chasing him around the ring and most the time he doesn't even throw enough punches for me to block to get a good rating.

So basically I retried that for an hour. Got lucky and got a B. Then I fight and win. Then I get a fight challenge and it's against Frank Mir. I can get 5000 bonus if I spend the majority of the fight on the ground. Land 30 punches from the ground and submit him with a kimora. OK that's going to be tough. So I go to train for my ground fight. Apparently there is a staph infection and I can't ground train for this fight. Hahaha OK so I'm going to take my 81 rated fighter against 91 Mir and fight him on the ground with no training. Ya this should go well. I don't get who thought that was clever.
I'm enjoying the game but career is a disaster in my opinion. I get why they made it so when you train you can sim and automatically get your highest grade. Its cheap and lazy though by EA in my opinion. Basically the first time you train on anything you should do it on hard and keep restarting till you get an A than don't do it again. If they would have made it so at different stages it was easier or harder or really anything different at all there might be some incentive to redo the training exercises but I've found that obtaining high grades has as much to do with luck as it does skill. So why would I subject myself to a crap shoot when I already have the grade.

Dont forget grappling advantage. Punches break up any attempt to land big MT clinch knees and give you GA. After you punch, you will find it easier to transition out of the clinch or take them down from it. I prefer taking them down.

With that said, I think the devs are looking into the quick mt entry.
