Christiano Ronaldo competes in European football. So why can't he compete in an American football video game? Using EA logic he could play RB in Madden because he runs fast. Duh

Think of the sales boost Madden would get in the European market !
My goodness, that is a terrible comparison. Not even remotely close. Boxing and MMA are a hell of a lot closer to each other than soccer and football. It's a ****ing preorder bonus/unlockable. He's not taking the spot of anyone in the game. There's already 250 fighters in the game, that's an absurd amount. What fighter could you possibly want in over him? You probably can't name one. Sure they could have gone with another legend. But it's a preorder bonus. It's not costing you anything more, just let the people who want him in the game enjoy it, and you don't have to use him in the game at all.

I would rather have more current/legends mma fighters rather the non-mma, just like how they added Arnold for WWE. Does nothing for me, glad it, works for some of you.

I actually agree about having a boxer in an MMA title. It's like a Fight Night dick tease.

Having Tyson in the game does nothing for me besides wishing that Fight Night could be played.

I was excited for Bruce Lee. Tyson? Not at all.

I guess Tyson will have all the same moves as everyone else? Yeah...to each his own.

That's pretty much how I am, as well except I never use legends in any of the sports games that I play either. I just care about the current roster and that's pretty much it. I never used Bruce Lee or any of the legends the released at all in the last game. I'm sure I'll fight with Tyson a couple of times just because of KO Mode. After playing KO mode a time or two I doubt I'll ever touch either again unless I'm playing against friends who aren't familiar with the controls.

With all of that said I realize that games aren't created just to cater to me and my wants. I'm sure that others will enjoy using Tyson and I'm sure that EA will make a few more sells because of him being in the game. If that means a bigger budget for UFC 3, then it's a no lose situation for me.

If Evander Holyfield can forgive Tyson so can I. He never even bit my ear off.

Will they be adding The Undertaker next year ? Lawrence Taylor ? Pele ? LOL

Absolute joke.

That was pretty darn good.

It was good for business. Makes sense. I prefer his ratings to be elite striking (hands) and low everything else. I hope they don't go with the imagination approach.
That would be very interesting to play similar to reverse Royce. Undisputed 3 with Royce was super fun.

You must not follow current events in the gaming industry.

This thread has turned into the biggest whine fest I have seen in a while. Every other page, someone new comes in with the same complaint from page 1 beating the poor horse to death over and over.

Don't like it? Don't use him. It's not that hard. Why can't the thread just discuss using him instead of all this whining how YOU don't like it and what YOU think of him, when there are many more who are excited for this?

Personally, I can't wait to use him. I am a casual mma watcher. Very casual. With this, I'll preorder. Great marketing choice.

Boxing is far from dead and your statement about NCAA is just wrong.

People are saying boxing and Fight Night fan base is small. I would love to see where they got these numbers and please make poll to help verify these claims. I have been a part of boxing real life and videogames wise. I'm part of the Fight Night Community and have monitored Fight Night fans on various sites especially the EA forums as a Senior Moderator. I remember when I went to the EA Community Event and they paid Mike Tyson a large sum of money to appear in a number of Fight Night games. This move caught many off guard because it almost confirm that Fight Night is dead. [I will definitely have to talk to the producers and my inside source]

I wouldnt take this as confirmation that Fight Night is alive or dead. Tyson has a relationship with the UFC so this deal makes sense.

I smell the ne FN game around corner; because you don't put a boxer into an MMA game, without proper boxing mechanics! Cheers

Agreed! Very excited to have Iron Mike in this game.
I know he's a huge MMA fan so I'm sure he's geeked about this as well.

Regarding his legacy, IIWII. I think the collection of fighters in that era wasn't as bad as some make it out to be.
A very young, inexperienced Tyson beat an undefeated Tony Tucker. Many 'experts' have stated he'd be a belt holder in many other era's as well.
He destroyed Larry Holmes in a way that no other fighter ever has.
Yes, he was over the hill, but remember, a fatter, older Holmes took a prime Holyfield the distance and never once looked to be in the kind of danger Tyson put him in.

This can be debated all day. I'll never change anyone's mind about Tyson just like I'm sure members like OpenSource won't change mind.
I understand his line of thinking, I just don't agree with all of it.

Anyhoo, this turn of events has me seriously considering a pre-order.
I'm scared to pull the trigger simply because I'm not the biggest UFC/MMA fan and I'm nervous I'll get tired of this game after a few days.
But man, I want Tyson!

We don't know the circumstances though.
Retired legends need to be negotiated with separately. Maybe some of them didn't want to be in the game, or priced themselves out?
And maybe EA still owned the rights to Tyson from his Fight Night license making it much easier to put him in this game?

If anything, this announcement has me clamoring for more bangers on the roster like Cabbage, Tank Abbott and even Kimbo Slice.
I would LOVE to run my own KO Universe with Mike against those guys.
