EA Sports UFC 2 News Post

The EA Sports UFC 2 closed beta is scheduled to release on Thursday, January 28 and ending on February 4 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The closed beta is only available to gamers that own the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 version of EA Sports UFC and live in North America.

This is a closed beta and is only eligible to fans who own Xbox One or PlayStation 4 and are EA SPORTS UFC owners in North America. For those of you that meet those requirements, make sure you register here. Quite a few people are having problems registering at the moment, most getting the "Sorry, you are not eligible to participate in the beta at this time" message. We have contacted EA about the issue and will update this post when we hear anything back. Once it is up and running without any issues, you will have until January 21 at 10:00 AM PT to register, for a chance to receive a code.
  • The download will be roughly 11 GB
  • The exact time will vary based on platform and region
  • You will not be able to pre-load the beta
Game Modes in Closed Beta

Quick Fight
  • Featuring the deepest roster of any fighting simulation, select fighters from the Welterweight division and step into the Octagon for a 3 or 5 round bout.
UFC Ultimate Team
  • Create your team of up to five fighters using UFC 2’s deep customization options. Compete in online or offline competitions to progress your fighters and earn Coins that open packs which deliver special items used to sculpt your team into the most explosive in the UFC.
Practice Mode
  • A no-consequences environment designed to let you master the basics of striking, grappling and clinch-work at your own pace before putting your skills to the test in real competition.
Skill Challenges
  • Dive into all-new mini-games to help players learn and perfect stand-up, clinch, and ground disciplines.
Other notes from the FAQ:

Can I play online against other players?

The EA SPORTS UFC 2 beta will support online play. You can throwdown against (1) online opponent in a 1 vs. 1 fight.

Will I be able to customize my fighter in the beta?

Yes. In UFC Ultimate Team you can create your own team of custom fighters. After each fight, win or lose, earn Coins to open Fight Packs that contain items that improve your fighters. These items allow you to customize your fighter by giving them unique moves, attributes, perks and more.

Will my UFC Ultimate Team stats carry over to the main game?

No, any stats or progression during the beta will not carry over to the full game when EA SPORTS UFC 2 launches in March 2016. However the skills you learn through this beta will!

Will I have to re-create my Ultimate Team when EA SPORTS UFC 2 launches on March 15?

Yes, teams created in the beta will not carry over to the full game.

I never got anything other than the small message on the contact preferences page saying my preferences had changed. Didn't know I was supposed to - there wasn't anything on the page about receiving an email specifically for opting in.

The purpose of the beta is to give people a sample of the game AND help find potential bugs that can be fixed with a day 1 patch or a little later.

A demo 2 weeks before release wont help you find bugs that can be fixed Day 1 because there isnt enough time to fix the bug and submit the patch before release.

This is the email I got:

"Thanks for Signing Up
You are now an Insider for EA SPORTS UFC! You're set to receive the latest news, exclusive offers, and more, at this email address."

Now I didnt get this email when I opted-in with my non Origin linked email account. When I opted-in with the right Origin account, I immediately got that email.

All I can do is be able to prove that I'm only dealing with one account/email here. There is no "wrong email" for me in this case.

Obviously my opt-in didn't process somehow since I never got that email. I'm not sure what, if anything, I can do about that now.

I did check my spam folder too btw - nothing.

Yeah I cant figure it out. Either EA failed to process it correctly or maybe you accidentally typed in the email wrong.

I can assure you the latter isn't the case.

Here's what I can show in public:

That email and account even pre-dates Origin (2011 was when that started). It is, without a doubt, the only email I've used that has ever been associated with EA.

And the one on the opt-in page is the exact same.

Yeah I don't why it keeps telling I'm not eligible especially since I owned the game, TWICE. I typed in my origin account and everything.

So let me get this straight.....it doesn't matter that I have UFC 1 and played it to death. The real issue is that I didn't play while logged into my Origin account?

I have only used one e-mail address for Origin, Uplay, etc, and it's the one I used to sign in on EA's site and to sign up for UFC news, and to TRY to gain access to the beta.

So in other words, bcruise, you are not alone with this issue sir. I'm just as frustrated and confused as you.

I think we should fight a match in UFC 1 to prove this theory

Exactly, its a straight cluster **** way of handling this whole thing. Why not just go simple with it with a open beta????

I honestly dont know. Its not even just an EA thing. Theyve done some closed betas but some open ones too. I think Star Wars was an open beta. So I dont know why this was closed.

# 95 fballturkey @ 01/15/16 06:37 PM
Yeah, Star Wars was open beta. It was, ah, not well received, which could have informed their decision on more tightly controlling this one. Also they wanted to stress test online for SW, which isn't as much of a concern on UFC.

It seems to me that maybe they wanted to reward people that played UFC1, but UFC is niche enough for a sports game that unless they really advertised it that'd pretty much be the audience anyway.

Just got confirmation that EA is working on a solution. Hope to hear something soon.

# 99 GeneralsHockey @ 01/15/16 09:39 PM
Here's the solution I believe, http://bit.ly/1Owefn1
Side question: If i'm reading this correctly, do we only have access to the welterweight division or are all divisions available?
