RONDA ROUSEY FEATURES ON THE COVER OF EA SPORTS UFC 2 OUT SPRING 2016

EA SPORTS Reveals Full Set of Innovative Features, All-New Game Modes, and Game-Changing Visuals So Fans Can Finish the Fight

Electronic Arts Inc. today announced EA SPORTS™ UFC® 2 will launch this Spring, featuring UFC® bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey as the game’s global lead cover athlete, check out the new trailer here. Rousey, the undefeated UFC champion (12-0), is the most dominant and recognized fighter in the world. Hear what Rousey thinks about the cover and get a first look of the champ in the virtual Octagon® here.

“EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment,” said Rousey. “As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it.”

EA SPORTS UFC 2 takes the franchise’s stunning character likeness and animation to another level, adds an all-new Knockout Physics System and authentic gameplay features, and introduces the biggest ever roster of real-world fighters in a MMA game who will step back into the Octagon on Xbox One and PlayStation®4.

“Like any champion fighter going into their next fight, we listened to our corner – in our case, the fans – and took a detailed look at everything we can do to take the fight game to a whole new level,” said Creative Director Brian Hayes. “We’re doing that by introducing innovative gameplay features, delivering a game mode for every fighter regardless of their style of play, and adding helpful tools so fans can master MMA, all while producing the jaw-dropping visuals that fans expect.”

Rousey will defend her title tomorrow in the Octagon at UFC® 193: ROUSEY vs. HOLM at Etihad Stadium, to mark the first UFC event in Melbourne, Australia. This event will also make UFC history as the first time two women’s world title bouts will headline a PPV event.

LOL! I always find it funny when people pass on a game because of a cover.

You made that business public my man. You decided you needed to make an announcement that you werent going to buy the game because of the cover. You also felt the need to post the same thing in multiple threads. Just like you have the right to make that announcement, I have the right to acknowledge that its silly and stupid.

Release says she's the lead cover athlete. Will Conor be on the cover in the UK/Ireland markets?

Hopefully, you will get pass this cover thing and play the game because its good. If not, who cares.

They could wait until Conor/Aldo plays out and tack him on if he's the undisputed champ closer to release.

They could put Weidman or Lawler on if Conor doesn't pan out. At any rate, they made the smart call with Rousey. It'll get some people interested in the game that might not be and anyone not buying it because she's on there (from the phrasing probably paired with a male fighter chosen later) is rare and ridiculous.

Why wouldn't she be on the cover? She's one of the most well known athlete's in the world right now. EA would be stupid not to

I don't really care for Rousey that much, but not buying a game just because she's on the cover is taking it too far. It is LOL worthy honestly. Buy the game digitally or download a custom cover if she bothers you that bad. Sheesh.

Not a big Rousey fan (well I was during her Strikeforce and early UFC days) but it's a good cover, and already looks better than last year's weird poses for Jon and Gus. Next to her would be Conor or Weidman I predict, depending on how their fights go.

And it's "could NOT care less".

I really like Rousey as a fighter and she is dominate in a very weak field of female fighters. The best thing would be for Holm to win the fight or lose a razor thin decision. Rousey is way over hyped, but right now, it is all about pushing women in all forms of sports and entertainment, so Dana White jumped on the train as well.

She is nowhere near as dominate as Jones, but thanks to his screw ups, it was easy to make her the face of the UFC. No shock that she is on the cover and to be honest, she deserves it. She has been all class (for the most part) and is a fighting champion, along with being a great ambassador for the sport. However, I still would like to see her get seriously pushed or even lose in this next fight.

She's considerably more dominant than Jones. She's finished every opponent, mostly in the first round. Jones hasn't.

Unfortunately, Ronda's name cannot be mentioned without vitriolic hyperbole thrown out by the anti-Rousey crowd. I admire their passion, people legitimately dedicate time and effort to hating Ronda. I respect the hustle, but it gets a little much sometimes.

The haters reacting to the cover (not referencing a poster on this board, just in general out there on the internet) are hilarious to me.

Take off the Hate Shades and look at it realistically.....

Who else would it be?

Really they had two options, IMO. Conor or Ronda. I mean are they gonna put Joanna on the cover? Jon Jones (of course not), Weidman and Lawler just aren't household names either. Werdum? I wish, but no, not realistic.

Realistically Ronda or Conor are really the only two who make sense.

If somebody argued for DC, I could maybe give you that one.

You guys gotta keep in mind this:

EA knows that we are gonna buy the game. Those of us who care enough to really know who deserves to be on a cover or not are gonna buy the game regardless. Hardcore MMA fans need games like this.

EA wants to sell the game to people going into buy Madden, The Show, 2k, etc, and see the game on the shelf and think "hey why not." You need a face they recognize. They also want to sell games to mom's who don't know better who are buying their kids games for a birthday or christmas. A tattoo'd up Conor might scare off some of those sales. Ronda is a smart, safe bet for mass appeal

No chance DC makes the cover. His PPVs don't even sell. Maybe it's the 'paper championship' folks that aren't buying them but right now I think Lawler and Weidman are considerably bigger draws than him, and Conor (if he wins) is bigger than any of them.

Edit: And I don't like Rousey, but I can see when someone is dominating their sport. She is doing it, Jones is/was doing it, Ronda is doing it more.

Isnt the second cover athlete being chosen as part of a vote? EA isnt choosing it right?

# 15 fballturkey @ 11/14/15 08:09 PM
I haven't seen them say yet. If so it'll either be Conor or if they put him on there and enough people have a sense of humor Diaz.

# 16 fballturkey @ 11/15/15 02:14 AM
Welp. Guess the EA curse is real.

# 17 Oinkersthepig @ 11/15/15 02:15 AM
Thought Connor was going to be the second person for sure, but now the only way the cover would make sense is if it's Holm.

Must be hard trying to pick a cover athlete for a sport like this. 1 or 2 losses can take you from the very top to the bottom extremely quickly.

She fought in a weak field of female fighters and used her judo skills that gave her an advantage with controlling fighters and then locking them into arm bars. Well, she got absolutely destroyed by Holm and I was not shocked to see it happen.

Like I said previously, I like Rousey as an athlete, but the hype machine was WAY over the top. The idea that she was more dominate than Jones was RIDICULOUS. It was all media hype to push the female agenda in this country and it was fantastic to see her get beat down because it was also a knockout for the BS media talking about Rousey in a blatant effort to relegate men in a male dominated sport as being 2nd tier to the women, and it was total BS.

Great job, Holm! You destroyed the myth of Rousey and her overall dominance of the sport of MMA.

We have no idea if those votes are real. I'm sure they are, but we all know it is going to be Conor. Even I would vote for him, and I'm not really a fan of his other than watching him fight.

I dont think the votes are fake. If they were someone like GSP wouldve been on the last cover instead of Gus.
