NBA Live 16 Demo Available For Xbox One and PS4, Post Your Impressions

The NBA Live 16 demo is available now for Xbox One gamers and is scheduled to release at 1:00 PM ET for PlayStation 4. We will update this post when it officially arrives on the PS Store.

UPDATE: It's now 2:00 PM ET, no sign of the demo on PS4, we will post when it is available.

The demo includes the new LIVE Pro-Am mode, featuring both the competitive LIVE Run and cooperative Summer Circuit. For those of you looking for an offline experience you can play exhibition games in Tip-Off mode. Users can choose from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden St. Warriors, Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers. Players can adjust sliders, difficulty level, play up to 12 minute quarters and more. It also includes tutorials.

Download it, play it and post your impressions.

Ok, for ppl on PS4 with the long download times, u can restart your system and/or keep pausing and unpausing the download to get ahorter times. I do either of these but usually both when downloading on my 4. What I don't understand is how my wireless router is right near both my 4 and 3 yet still have these probs on wireless even if only not many wireless connections at same. Keep forgetting to order ehternet cables....

Now, to my early impressions of this demo after 3qtrs of Thunder vs Cavs - Meh. Looked promising in the vids but the feel and movement is still not there. Frames of animation are still missing causing some weirdly quick looking animations that don't look natural and human, the defense is slippery as hell even with the 'defensive assist' button being held, rebounding is a pain and that steal button just never gets fixed nor are there proper steal animations.

That's all I can think of that I disliked. As for what I like is the look of the players although they can still be toned down to a more realistic look. Still has a caroonish 'tinge' to them they way they look with the colors but still not bad.
I like the crowd and sideline ppl head tracking, or what seems to be head tracking. Subtle but noticeable. Want a broadcast cam, tho. I can't change the settings cuz they're locked and some 18% install is stuck .

The sounds go without saying. Live has been, uhh, live with that for ages, now. Best in biz with that. Paid littlw attention to the commentary tho.

I'll leave it there.

Damn application data download initially wasn't letting me do the pause/unpause trick while playing the game but now that I'm done playing, got it downloading at a better rate...

Ok, finished my game. Won and I absolutely love the post game ESPN screen that even allows u to scroll up and down to get to the topic u want. Very nice touch.

Gunna rock again after app data finishes downloading all 24GBs and change. Sheesh. Gotta be able to play with the settings and hopefully the game will feel better but right now, still not feeling it.

Live feels like an IOS App store game. From gameplay to almost the graphics. I feel like 2k15 for the iphone plays alot better and smoother than the demo.

Really can't find any positives. Game feels 5 years behind.

But i hope live keeps on making the game and improving every year. Just need to smooth it out.

Mine too...stuck on 18% on my PS4

and that's after my brother played two full games, lol

was fine on XBO....

Just gave up and deleted it

Ok as a Live ***** I will say I'm impressed......not impressed enough to pay 65 for it up I'm pressed arenas look great but players have a cartoon vibe to them. Playing through a game defense...what defense lol. It's like a freaking all star game. Someone said it best this should have been like 14 or even nba elite. Honestly you ask me Live should quit with simulations and just to nba street or nba jam type game that looks like this. I would buy that for 60 before this. But regardless good outing now where my 2k at

I can honestly say, I'm finished with this series, bought it the last two years, no more. This game is dead IMHO. I was blown away to see the force field out of bounds AGAIN, they specifically said they would address this, did not happen. Lots of weird moves in the most, players contorting, twisting, just strange. I do see some animations which look better but this game is worlds apart from having the animations of its competitor, just not even in the same spectrum. There is just a huge lack of overall content in comparison, here's some off the top of my head.

2K has at least 30 legendary teams, about 24 Euro teams, about 20 college teams, 45 song soundtrack, a complete story mode, any many others. I want to like Live, I do, though it's just too much, I hate to say it, but I just don't see this series surviving after next year, it just can't compete. I did observe some notable improvements from last year, the commentary is smoother-more in sync, animations are better-in some areas, especially on drives, arenas look great and, some of the players have had huge make-overs but that's about it.

Good job Live team....movement finally feels good man...feels like basketball.

You can finally take angles in this gen.

Love the presentation and all the on court diagrams...I'm a fan of the pick control, great idea there. Also love the contextual animations navigating through them...

Just a couple things that bother me:

Love the fact that there is spacing and movement....but some of it's due to exaggerated rotations...there are guys being left open and helped off of that don't make any sense sometimes.

The late game A.I is STILL bad- we gotta get this fixed fellas..

You still cant swat at a mid air ball on command...I didn't notice a dip in long pass accuracy either....what's to stop guy online from puling the stuff they did last year with guys like LeBron

The inside game- its already been talked about by many...ill hold off on this one while I experiment with sliders....but what about online? At what point do physics really start making a difference down here?

Props on the team for the progress- its an enjoyable game...just hope the above can be worked on so it doesn't eat away at that enjoyment...

Noticed the same thing with the late game AI, can be down by three and does nothing to try to make up the difference, goes for a two and plays on like there is a full game left to be played. WTH, how did this ONCE AGAIN make it IN THE GAME?????????

I have given them a ton of feedback already on the matchups. I've been able to remedy it by tapping down on the dpad to set my defense to man to man, but that doesn't help the AI. I haven't been able to get an answer yet as to whether or not that's in patch 1, but it's one of the first things I'll be checking for.

You can, but the timing is a little earlier than you'd think. I was able to shoot passing lanes in tip off games and in Pro-Am. I had a sweet one on JYoung where I baited him into a pass and picked it off clean. I haven't noticed a real penalty for long passes either, which is concerning.

Glad to hear I wasn't crazy by actually finding quite a bit of enjoyment in the game this year.

BTW I was able to confirm that the demo does NOT contain the Day 1 Patch. Hoping to get a better sense of what's going to be in that patch soon.

Can't believe we're still 2 weeks away. Kinda crazy.

I'm having a lot of issues with stringing cross overs together and taking good angles. It seems like it always makes me go left to right or forward and back. Makes it hard to get by people sometimes.

Try the Learn Live dribbling tutorials. I still haven't quite mastered it yet but I see some nice blow-bys when guys reach.

Forcefield I know is fixed in Day 1 patch, and I just completed a game and had 3 turnovers out of bounds, one which came off of a timely trap by Kevin Love and Lebron (trapping Durant in the corner, made me shuffle my feet onto the line). It was crazy satisfying, considering WHERE on the court they trapped, and how they cut off my lanes.

The Late Game AI, I'm not sure if that's in the Day 1 Patch or not, when I was playing down there, I had awesome results, going into triple OT, etc, and the CPU fouling when they needed to, getting quick shots, etc.

So don't give up hope that it's not in. Maybe it was Price, maybe it was someone else who mentioned the late game AI being an issue back in June (didn't get to go) but after speaking to 3 different devs on the issue down there, they believed they had every issue sorted out with it, and the build they pushed to us showed it.

The swatting the ball in the passing lane, you may need some timing work 24th

I'll be honest though, I think it could be tuned better still yet, but I'm able to deflect my fair share of balls each game, as is the CPU. Lebron picked one and went coast to coast against me a few minutes ago.

How do I get to the pro am from the demo all I see is "play the full 2016 finals game"

It has to finish downloading the rest of the file. It's 24GB total I believe. You can only play the finals game until it's complete.
