So you get a list of some pre-determined nicknames? I hope there's a good number to choose from. And I'm not required to have it put on the back of my jersey.

This ain't no He Hate Me nonsense, is there?

Fans of "He Got Game" will recognize that the agent in the trailer is the same actor that was in the movie.

^Really tho. Not like the nickname list was all that good anyway. So I won't mind being called Freq.

That makes sense. They'd have to record proper dialogue for every nickname in that instance.

This story on this mode look solid this year, man yall tripping letting any old thing kill your enjoyment.

It's a damn nick name. LMAO

# 48 24ct @ 09/14/15 03:25 PM
Okay so we can have our own name but in the cut scenes they will call us Frequency Vibrations? Freq? WTF...

Even it's just a nickname that's dumb as ever man. I mean I'm really an online guy anyway but I have to play thru these cut scenes. That's kind of a total buzzkill for me.

I mean 1st of all that's a terrible name. I know they said we can change it but will the cut scenes change with it?

If not that's totally lame...

Dude, the nickname has become the new "lighting", this thread is too much. Everytime someone mentions the name, I just want to start flinging profanity Laced tirades of, "YOU CAN CHANGE THE EFFIN NAME" [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

And smh at ppl saying this is what it's come to about the nickname. Your name an identity is a HUGE part of MY career.

Not being able to customize that during cut scenes is a huge blow for some ppl. Actually I've seen more negative comments than good. I get it's a story but they shouldn't call it mycareer mode they should call it 'livin da dream' mode then...

Anybody saying that's a cool nickname or that's okay with that's cool. But don't act like it's not an issue in a mode where it's supposed to be your character. Not really feeling that. I'll probably just play til I'm a 90 and be online only anyway but honestly that's not a good name. No matter how they try to spin it.

I think it's to show that you can name your person anything and they'll say your name.

Dude, it's a bloody nickname! Are you seriously going to bypass the mode due a nickname, a nickname, not the main name, but a nickname?! [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

If the name bothers you so much........I have a solution............Don't play it. there is enough game modes for you to not worry about the name.

# 54 Cleve07103 @ 09/14/15 03:40 PM
Don't really know why people are surprised with the nickname anyway. yall do realize Ray Allen's name was Jesus Shuttlesworth right

# 55 804Scoe @ 09/14/15 03:48 PM
We're getting these awesome features related to My Career like, My Court, Offseason Sim, Pro-Am etc. but yall don't wanna play because of some nickname? Ok y'all got it.

Moving past this nickname nonsense. If i'm reading correctly, My Career will have 90 minutes of cutscenes, but that's just Spike's story? Spike's story ends when you make it to the league. If so, Good Gosh! I'm loving that!

I don't understand sometimes the lack of imagination people have. Like the whole being undrafted thing, that was a dealbreaker to some and people complained and complained about it. But if you thought about it, you could easily come up with some type of logical reason that you were undrafted even if you didn't like it.

Can you not do that with this nickname? Especially when we don't even know the story. Half the trailer talked about doing what you don't want to do, to make it. Maybe this is one of those sacrifices is that you have to take on the nick name someone wants who guarantees you a spot in the NBA. Even if that's not the case, why not just pretend?

If that's still not good enough then cool, ditch the mode but I just don't understand people automatically saying it's a no play due to that. There are modes in various games that don't seem appealing to me but even if they aren't I still try them out to see what I think instead of just automatically cutting it out.

I always liked the older version of MyCareer where you got drafted where you deserved, or even undrafted if you was a bum...where you had to grind to get a high overall, etc...

But, if they want to go the story-route than actually having a good story that's not like a Disney film than I'm okay with it. I was interested in the whole trailer and I wanna see what it's about. For the most part I play just to get my overall and badges for Pro-Am but if there's a cool backstory as well than it only makes grinding more fun...

Sad I can't bring back Mo "Money" Banks but hey I'll think of something lol

I think it stems from the small tug-of-war that still exists from what the mode was back in 2K10 and what it is now. With titles like MyPlayer and MyCareer, a lot of people expect more customization and control in all areas, not less. And for all we know so far, aside from the nickname thing, this year's mode may provide that.

Anyhow, generally speaking, this has been a full-fledged story mode for at least three years now and some people just miss its more realistic predecessor, where it truly seemed as if it was about each and every one of us carving our own path to the league, on our own terms.

It all requires a bit of an imagination to some degree, but I'm supposing everyone has their limits. For instance, I had no interest in even trying to immerse myself in the idea that I was the type of guy who'd yell at my agent for not getting drafted (as happened in 2K15) and then proceeding to act like a complete tool throughout "my" career.

If I had to guess, things will be at least a little different this year.

Y'know what, how many single player modes allow you to start in HS, play HS games, pick the College you want to play for, play College games and then you get drafted into the league? None. So whilst some of you hate the nickname of the whole idea of a story, think about this, that story allowed 2K to bring Hs and College into a NBA game.

To me the fact we have HS and College should more than make-up for whatever negative you feel about a nickname or the story. No 'Sim' mode gives you that, no sim-heavy game has it, The Show? Nope. Madden? Not a chance in hell. NBA Live? No sir. NHL? Ha they wish.

To play devil's advocate, there would have been no reason 2K wouldn't have been able to include those aspects in a simulation-based MyPlayer mode. But that's neither here nor there. We know so little of how this year's mode is going to play out that a lot of the conjecture remains moot at this point.
