Not really struggling generating chances, but you definitely have to play a more aware game. It isn't about pure counterattacking, or constantly ping-ponging forward. The benefit of holding up, waiting for support, or passing back and resetting is much more of an emphasis this year because your team seems to organize itself much better around the play.

I'm still seeing a few instances in defense where the backline and the midfield are getting a bit too disorganized for no reason, but it's definitely better. There's a nicer flow going on in general because the linkage play between the backline and midfield is much better.

I also like the tweaks to player movement. Makes keeping the ball at your feet a more risky calculation for the player and cpu. Players who should be more conservative on the ball play that way now.

Glad to read this. Yes I turned them on lol

My impression of this demo is glowing. Play seems less scripted. Alive. Players dive and trip and reach for balls. Kicking is unique in lots of situation for shots on goal. The ai is willing to build up and defense is hugely improved.

If youth academy can produce pacey players if you can find them, this may be a classic.

I am really liking the impressions so far but one thing that has me concerned is all the comments about not enough chances to score. Last year there were complaints from the Ultimate Team community that the defense was too tough and there weren't enough scoring chances. After EA of course listened to them they released a patch which nerfed the AI defense beyond repair. Please do not do this again EA!

Dunno about that. Last year the defense was utter trash from the start.

Still, this demo is so good I'm now just really worried thinking about EA are going to ruin it.

Finding it easier to score from range. Playing on WC

It might be also due to the short half length. It's hard to be patient and try to build up when you're up against a fast clock.

Liking everything I've heard so far. Can't wait to play it tomorrow. Not in enough of a rush to make an account in another country. But also can't wait.

Played three matches and so far it seems pretty promising, I like what I am seeing in the midfield and with the defence covering players well. I haven't touched all the tactics yet but it still seems players ignore instructions, I'll have to test it more.

I've played 10 games on world class.
2 wins
2 draws
6 losses

Damn.

I'm just shocked how "sim" it is on WC all manual. There are a variety of errant passes, misreads, general scrappiness if you try to force the ball down the field when the opportunity isn't there.

I'll be disappointed if this is patched to make attacking more rudimentary. If this is the kind of gameplay design coming from the FIFA team in the era of FUT and youtube, color me impressed and surprised.

Just spent the last few hours playing and overall enjoyed it. Broke up thoughts into sections below.

General Gameplay
  • With default sliders and the "Slow" setting, it already seems a near perfect overall pace. It's basically the pace of last year on "Slow" with adjusted sliders.
  • The AI is definitely harder to break down, and it seems you're far more rewarded for picking out good passes and watching for runs as opposed to putting your head down and running at the defense, or spinning and cutting back repeatedly in order to get a shot on goal. Once again, something that needed sliders to fix it last year.
  • Your defenders are without question smarter and better at keeping shape and defending. It's not perfect, but it's certainly an improvement.

Fouls
  • Certainly not worse than last year, and possibly even better. I saw a red card just a few minutes into the game that was certainly a red, I saw hard tackles with no card, and I saw earned yellow cards. Also saw some small nagging fouls that were called as well.
  • We might be on track for more fouls overall, as I was able to see two fouls per team in one half of play—on four minute halves, that's pretty good.
  • Just as in past years, don't be afraid to slide in hard and pick yourself up a few fouls and cards.

Custom Tactics
  • I'm honestly not sure what to think about these as of now. They seem to be affecting some aspects of gameplay, but it's still hard to make teams play different from one another.
  • It seemed that I could get a team to play long balls, but then when I tried to get Barca to play slowly with possession, they'd still hit it long. Which is good to have variety, but not when it seems so similar to the other tactic.
  • One thing that might help on the full game is actually saving the tactics/team sheets as opposed to just switching them up in the middle of a game.
  • There is a new option added to all players under "Instructions" and it's how aggressively the player tries to intercept the ball.

FIFA 14 was an improvement over 14, and 15 improved on 14. It seems clear that 15 has improved over last year, and as it's been the last few years, it seems that it did it in ways EA didn't market or have as "back of the box" features.

So far, this looks like a promising year for FIFA in terms of gameplay.

I hope you get a chance to play with sliders a bit. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

That's what I want to know as well, I just played solo against the CPU in the demo.
