Activision Community Manager, Josh Engen, has posted more details about the new Create-A-Park feature in the game, which includes over 250 usable objects.

Start out by selecting your location (beach, skatepark, school, warehouse, and a super-secret locale), select the size of your park (small, medium, large) and start designing your park.

Quote:
Building a park that has perfect, skatable lines with enough variability that skaters are forced to be creative is difficult, but THPS5 allows players to seamlessly switch between skate-mode and editing mode. So, as I created my own park, I would repeatedly pause construction to skate and reskate the new lines, adjusting them slightly to increase or decrease their difficulty.

THPS 5 comes out on September 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and November 10 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You can pre-order it now. For more Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 news, screenshots and videos, check out this page.

Is EA really never going to make a new gen version of Skate??? I mean seriously, that game took a big steamy dump on the Tony Hawk series.

Interesting art design. I honestly would not have minded giving this game an opportunity if they didn't do the little star graphic and allow you to do that magnetizing thing to grind rails.

Can we get a true, honest to goodness ,remake of THPS2???

Doesn't look all that bad. Doesn't look all that good either.

This is the PS4. Needs to be more, much more. Tony Hawk's Skate City. Yes, City. Full on city, with other NPC skaters and pedestrians. Anything less just seems like a step back at this point.

Been watching this on twitch. Will definitely be picking this up tomorrow.

the create a skater is more like a customize the skater.

in this day age you'd think you'd be able to make yourself.

shows how ADVANCED skate 3 was for its time....Skate 3 still a brilliant game

I really only care about gameplay and from what I watched it looked like they did a good job. I'm also a fan of the cell shading but I can see how people will be turned off by the graphics.

I just played for an hour and didn't see anything like that. I'm sure it's there but that guy in the video isn't exactly trying to play the game and if he was he's awful.

I did a few missions and actually skated around doing tricks and saw nothing like that.

I mean 95 percent of that video is just awful landings. I guess the game plays better when you actually stay on the board?

Yeah, looks like he was trying hard to exploit the glitches.

The only real turn-offs for me in this game are that "slam magnet" feature and the Mario star kind of thing. Everything else just looks like THPS, and I'm fine with that.

I'm really enjoying it. This is coming from someone who thinks Tony hawk 3 is a top 5 game ever though.

The special thing is different. Once your meter fills you hit lb to activate it. Then you get that blue trail thing you are talking about. After that every move you do is flashier and worth more points. I think I would have preferred the old method of just hitting the right button combos to do specials once your meter filled but it's not awful my any means. The slam thing doesn't change the game much for me.

And yet I'm going on 2-3 hours play time and Ive seen nothing that shows its broke. Those guys are having issues during the tutorial. That's like 2 minutes in.

Guys are just falling and blaming it on the game. Hard to take a review seriously when it's clear they went it wanting to hate it. If you like Tony hawk you are missing out if you let a review like that sway you.

Unless of course I've just got lucky for 2 hours straight tonight. I'm going to pick it back up later. It's definitely not online only like then say too. Very easy to play by yourself.

Edit: Also they complain about the stomp feature ruining a good run. that guy saying "oh you are high in the air. Well now you are on the ground!" Makes no sense. Unless you hit the stomp button while you are in air. Which is user error. Only time Ive used it so far is to go into a grind. Comments like that make me feel like they went in wanting to bash game.

I used to love tony hawk but the last good one was like 10 years ago so no matter how good the reviews are I cant really trust that the game is any good. I may try to find it at redbox. Up in till like a month ago I had yet to see a redbox with ps4 and xboxone games though. Does it have a normal single player like tony hawk 3 threw American waste land had?

It's set up just like the early ones. You play on a level and go through missions and look for hidden objects. You can play most of the missions coop too. It's nothing like any Tony hawk game after 4. I stopped playing them after underground. They got to different than the early ones for me.

The structure of the career mode is:

Free Skate -- no timer while you collect S-K-A-T-E, C-O-M-B-O, hidden DVD, hidden VHS, and knock over X number of objects (think the wooden crates in THPS 1 Warehouse).

Missions -- go to a spot on the map and compete in various challenges with a timer.

You can only unlock attribute upgrades for your skater by completing those missions.

So far I only see 8 levels in the career mode, though based on previous THPS games, there may be more to unlock?

The team that made the Skate series (BlackBox) was shut down by EA a long time ago.

So a new team would have to be formed, for any potential Skate sequel.

The original trilogy is on sale right now for 50% off if you have an Xbox 360.

Oh ok good to know. Tony hawk 4 was my favorite one and up threw tony hawk wasteland I still liked the game a lot but I thought wasteland was when the franchise started to go down hill and then after wasteland they just sucked. There was not a lot of previews and such leading up to the game coming out so I didn't know if it had things like score so many points and collect skate ect like the old ones did.
