Madden NFL 16 News Post

Madden's newest mode is Draft Champions, and so far it's one of the freshest additions to the franchise in years. This is a quick and deep experience that reminds me of what I liked about the Ultimate Team mode when it debuted in UEFA Champions League 2006-2007.

According to EA's early press releases, the developers of Draft Champions had four goals: "Always on the Clock. Every Pick Matters. Keep it Tight. Replayable." With limited plays, I think they hit the mark with each.

Draft Champions is really cool but I hate that it is only 3 minute quarters. Unless I am missing how to make the quarters longer. The 3 minute quarters just creates to much of either a hurry up and score or milk the clock type of game play and I would rather it play out like a normal game.

Playing this online is definitely a blast. Offline is a dud and lack of being able to play your friends is an oversight, but it's a great online mode.

I just had a draft where i got a legend in round 9 and 15. That is the first time that is happened and all the drafts I'm have done already. I hope that is EA mixing things up. Anyone else have that happend?

Being able to create a team and the uniform like in the old Madden games would thrill me to no end.

Fun mode. Wish it tracked your stats. It should let you keep your team until you lose instead of 3 games and start over. Then it could keep track of the team you had the longest win streak with. Needs more variety of players. 4 or 5 minute quarters. It should also give us 3 stadiums to choose from every draft, 3 uniforms or even creating a uniform. This mode has a lot of potential. Its what I'll play in between CFM games. I think this mode will make its way into other sports games as well.

I got them in the 1st and 15th once. Randall Cunningham and Herman Moore make a great combo.

Not being able to draft against a friend in is mode is completely absurd to me, but as we always say: Maybe Next Year!

It doesn't feel like the number of CBs that come up are adjusted for the fact that you play 2-3 at a time. It seems like I generally get a shot at at least two of them but if I don't jump on those two there's a big chance I won't get any more.

And it could be small sample size but it seems like a ton of DEs come up.

I haven't purchased yet but I'm reading about things first. If you are playing head to head and you lose you need to start over, right? Does this cause more folks to quit early?

First time I got some info on this mode and it sounds really interesting. As an die-hard APF2K8 player, I'm very familiar with this format of limited picks to fill out an entire squad. I'll check it out this weekend.

It truly is the best mode that they have introduced since MUT. It is extremely enjoyable. If they add in special cards once they are released, it will be awesome.

My only gripe is that I wish there were more reasonable rewards. The first reward (10 wins for two elites) is awesome but after that, there isn't much enticing me to play.

You barely get 700 coins even if you win the entire thing online and a casual player who only wins 50% of their matches would have to play around 150-200 matches just to unlock the final rewards which is unrealistic.

I wish there were respectable rewards for 20, 30, etc. wins. Also I wish they would bump up the coin reward for playing. You should at least earn 500 coins, per match finished.

A quit equals a loss too though so either way they have to draft again.

I enjoy it. I concur about the rewards, after the first set of 2 random elites, playing so many games for 1 card is kind of crazy. They need to add more coins. You get 10x the # of coins in 4 season games vs. Your 4 DC games.

If there was a way to play only against some OS sim peeps then I might give it a try, but I'm not going to play against randoms. When they announced the mode I expected it to be quite popular with a sizable chunk of the Madden customer base. Anything that can get the scores up and help the sales, so that the gameplay team can keep tightening up the on the field action, is a good thing.

Huge Saints fan born and raised in New Orleans. Just had a squad of Horn, Colston, Graham, along with Strief. Forte repping Tulane and former LSU star Honey Badger. Brady was at the helm of this Who Dat's dream team. I was so stoked to start it up. 3rd play from scrimmage, Horn takes it 75 yards off a drag route! Looking money as we're up 7-0/ Go to kickoff and BAM! my internet goes out...fml!

I would love to see realistic scaling of older players. For instance in no way, shape or form is Brian Finneran a legend. He was a good player for a few years in the league but he was never the best at his position. So instead I would like to see a few more rounds with older players, both guys who were dependable players like Finneran and actual legends like Ray Lewis.

While I wait for CFM to be playable, this has been a great way to get some quick games in. Love building different types of teams.

For example, my most recent team I built a great offensive and defensive line and added Christian Okoye as my legend. Basically am just running it all the way down the field (with some playaction from Garappolo mixed in) and relying on a 4 man pass rush to wreak havoc on the defensive end.

The team before that was built around Jordy Nelson, Julius Thomas, and Phillip Rivers, with a pass-rushing duo of Jason Taylor and Justin Houston.

The thing that I love about this mode versus MUT is that you have to mix things up in terms of who you play with, and you don't see teams that are just stacked with 99 overalls across the board.

Jason Taylor is a monster! You don't even have to control him and he's after the QB in 2-4 seconds.

Since CFM is messed up, this has been the only mode I've played. I am not even big on MUT, but I play this mode just for fun.

I think it's pretty balanced. But played a guy yesterday and he had the best squad I've ever seen on there. Almost 0 weaknesses. Messaged him after the game and he said they offered him like an elite player every round.
