With Madden's annual release comes a bout of well-deserved skepticism. The game has not landed with its audience in several years. A solid Madden 15 seemed to stabilize the franchise a bit, but it was still far too rough around the edges to be considered great. In order for Madden to win over its fan base, it's going to have to center everything around solid gameplay. That is why, instead of testing some of Madden's many new features (such as the new Draft Champions mode), you should perhaps focus on a few of the game's gameplay improvements in both exhibition and online play. Here are the first four things everyone could do when they get their hands on Madden 16 tomorrow.

I agree the gameplay is the best its ever been BUT it still can be improved.
What I don't like is that its not as responsive as it was in M15. There seems to be a delay. That and once they fix the kicking bug and tone down the incredible catches that any tall receiver can make. It could be one of the great ones as far as gameplay goes....

Definitely agree on finding the right settings. But don't go overboard and driving yourself crazy over it.

I know the first 4 things I plan to do in Madden 16

Download FBG rosters
Create sliders
Create historic rosters
Create more sliders

Those 4 things will satisfy my madden experience

1) Turn sound completely off
2) create custom playbook based on YouTube money plays
3)Wait for OS slider gurus to tell me which sliders actually affect gameplay
4) H2H games until Destiny releases

The four things I'm going to do: Use the skills trainer to get used to the new controls, Play Draft Champions, Mess around with sliders, and then start an online CFM.

Corners and safeties still run with no weight to them. I love how WRs now have to gear down to make their cuts, but if the DBs dont have to follow the same rules and just spin on a dime, the coverage aspect of this game is still broken. And also, how come the Defense never learns from previous plays? If teams ran the same plays over and over in real life they would get splattered with how quick these guys learn from keying plays.

I played a lot of cpu vs cpu games on madden 15, all on default everything on all madden and was very happy with the results. For example the Seahawks won most games they played, and scored 59 points twice. But I also saw them lose to Denver 45-3 and lost to the Jets. The other night I played 3 consecutive cpu vs cpu games NO at GB and NO won the first game 46-45. GB won the next two games 24-17 and 35-9. I liked how anything could happen and happy I left everything on default. Worked for me but I'm not as hard-core about stats like some other guys on this site

So overall I agree with the article when he says make sure not to pass judgement on small sample sizes.

I'd love to enjoy the penalties but draft champions and head to head intentionally lower penalty chance.

With finally finishing my 10hrs of M16 on EA Access, I would have to say there is a ton of improvements in this game. CFM is lots of fun, and I would mess around with a few practice seasons and learn what all you can do. The scouting is really helpful this year and nowhere as confusing as it was last year. (Really wish PSN had EA Access) Because I'm already hearing excuses from my PS buds.

1. Do a practice run in CFM I used most of my access hours to just test out the CFM and learned a lot since I was able to see how everything works this year. I did an hour on HUT, and didn't try Draft Champions yet. I was too busy seeing what has changed, and what has not, get those bad decision makings out of the way before you and your friends start an official season. It's really easy now IMO to make better draft decisions, and with the Columbine attributes and scouting effects.

CFM for example... I picked the Titans and struggled terribly for the first 5 games + pre-season. I was able to use the scouting system to my advantage this year rather than just skipping it like I did last year. I've learned a lot with in 5 hours. I finished 11-5 and lost a really close but fun games in the wild card playoffs against the Dolphins.

2. Run the Gauntlet and learn the offense and how to pass! It doesn't feel anything like last year to me. Defense on the other hand, I was able to pick up from last year IMHO.

I'm starting to improve but that just goes to show that people need to step up their game this year. Plus it's my first year on the XB1.

3. Take the time to enjoy the presentation, the backgrounds the small detail things, not so much of the obvious details. They really added a lot of life to the players and coaches this year. (Crying to refs for flags, frustrated players almost about to go at it etc.) Less robotic and warping glitches. I really appreciate all the hard work put into it since it makes the game feel like I'm watching it on NFL CBS rather than playing it.

4. Get those online Leagues going since I feel it will be a great year for it on both systems. If you have both systems like I do, expand your comp, and get it for both systems.
