I think problem today is that our standard is really too high, i mean, we should aim for the best but can we even enjoy games anymore.

This is NBA LIVE 2003, look at the net, his neck, rim, crowd, body etc but i enjoyed that game and played it more than NBA 2K15. Played it countless of hours, still remember most of the soundtrack.

Of course that there are things that annoy me in NBA 2K15, there are dumb animations, slow resposivness on defense etc, that's the stuff that bothers me, it could be that it's just me, but it's more of a game breaking thing that the amount of hair on Drummond's arm.

I don't even know what's my point anymore
You actually have a point man . I went back and played some live games as far as 2003 and some 2k games back to 2k5. Animations were not as smooth or as pretty. In fact the games were a lot more twitchy. Faces /graphics are 100x better this gen too. The only way the game regressed to me is in on ball defense . Yeah you could still with your man way better in older basketball games but I think that's because the newer gen have so many more animations they don't always have counters for them defensively .

I see they got Isaiah Thomas right this time, he and Nate used to look real skinny in past games.

I started looking at older games just for fun and I don't know why but 2k12 had a real feel on the graphics, even though the lightning was off in this first pic, in the in-game one looks neat:

It's just me or the size of players compared to the court is much better?

Sometimes it's little nuances that throw them off, for example, here's CJ McCollum. You can tell he's scanned but his eyes have a certain "bulge" to them irl that the scan didn't really capture:

Lighting looks better than last year and faces look awesome!

BUT: I've been noticing the last couple of years that uniforms have been left behind, most of all seeing the huge leap faces and skin textures have gotten. Tissue textures and stitching in logos and numbers look lastgen-ish and low res compared with the rest of the body.

I'd love to see some improvements in this field soon.

What no one I've seen mention is that it seems 2K completely redid the hands. 2K14 and 15 had great hands but they were a little sausage like.

The new shots look properly bony at the knuckles and more slender in the right ways. Look at the shot of Whiteside pointing. His hands look amazing.

Also check out the faint brachial veins on Gobert. That looks amazing. His actually aren't that prominent but that looks very realistic. It'll help white and light skinned guys look a lot more believable.

Good point out! Didn't notice this..... looks great!

I'm doubting the body scans get dissected by 2K as to what/how it all went down/works etc. so having a guess, I would think they scanned as many as they could, but maybe focussed scanning as many different body "types"..... I would think any of the unique ones (Durant, Davis etc.) - lankier, long wing span etc. they got (or tried to get) and then just scanned some other normal bodies and applied to the common types where applicable.

This is how it would make sense to me in a practical way (without having to scan 100% of the leagues bodies - that seems like quite a task) and as such, they can blanket apply cool little features like having real looking hands, visible veins etc. as we're seeing in all of these pics....

This is all a guess, but yeah.....wouldn't mind knowing more about the process....

Loving the screens, especially IT's arms as it really got to me last year lol. Also nice seeing Hassan finally make it to this generation with the new face lol.

Only nitpick is some issues with jerseys, like the side of the Miami Heat jersey not going right to the armpit area. Been an issue since 2K14.

Other than that liking what I'm seeing!

I think the game looks damn good since 2K14, for this year, it's an evidence body scans are giving some players an extra realistic touch but overall it pretty much looks the same across all 3 games for me.
Just hoping they perfect some of the scans and that they have new presentation/audio this year, + crowd and bench player refinements!

The thing that was really messed up in 2K15 was the size of the size of the hands ended up looking like Kawhi Leonard size hands and then the actual size of the hands were too thick lol I guess like sausages. Which made the hands look even bigger. The size proportions of the hands were not right. The actual models of the hands look better but I hope all are improved, had to edit this they look better.

Examples

In game

Real life

His hands are big but his fingers are long but they are shouldn't be like sausages.

Looks great!
Thomas looked like a 9 year old in 2K15 with that frail body(he wasn't the only one either). Sooo glad they fixed that.

I don't know who the Spencer Dinwiddle cat is but that peach fuz goat tee looks amazing. Nice job 2K, can't wait for the game.

Gobert is a 79 while Thomas and Whiteside are 81s? Hopefully there's a good reason why

I'm all for constructive criticism, but I just will never understand people. Is the game perfect? No. But after everything they've revealed I just can't bring myself to say anything bad.

The game is much more in-depth than any sports game on the market. Period.

Whiteside was a beast last year.

His averages per 36 minutes were 18 ppg on 62% shooting, 15 reb, and 4 blocks.

All of those numbers are better than Goberts. Last year he even had a game where he put up 14 blocks or something ridiculous like that. Plus, from the little I've seen, he is better on the block.

Isiah Thomas is one of the best scoring guards in the league. There literally isnt anything that he cant do offensively.

3pt shooting. Ft shooting. Finishing at the rim. Passing. Nobody stands a chance in staying in front of him one on one.

And aside from Chris Paul, he is the best pick n roll player in the league.

But thats just my guess. [emoji4]

For all who think Gobert for some reason should be rated the same or higher than Whiteside here are some stats for you.

These are advanced stats which give a true picture of each player's ability, and likely the type of stats upon which player ratings were based according to Bed's breakdown.

=========

ORB% (The percentage of offensive rebounds grabbed/offensive rebounds available while this player was on the court)

Whiteside - 15.6% (Top Three in NBA after Drummond and Jordan)
Gobert - 14.3%

DRB% (The percentage of defensive rebounds grabbed/defensive rebounds available while this player was on the court)

Whiteside - 34.7% (Number #1 in NBA -- Top 6 performance All-Time)
Gobert - 19.7%

BLK% (The percentage of shots blocked/available to be blocked while this player was on the court)

Whiteside - 9.2% (Top Three in NBA)
Gobert - 7.0%

WS/48 (Win Shares per 48 minutes)

Whiteside - .221
Gobert - .206

Edit:PER - Player Efficiency Rating (A measure of overall player production per minute)

Whiteside - 26.2 (#6 in NBA -- Top ten include Davis, Westbrook, Curry, Durant, Harden, Whiteside, Paul, James, Cousins, Aldridge)

Gobert - 21.6

=========

Gobert's calling card is his defense; he's not much of an offensive player yet. Most might agree by the eye test that Whiteside is a better offensive player. Advanced stats reveal that he is also a better defensive player individually; Gobert in his team concept may have a greater defensive impact, and that's what sig skills like Defensive anchor are for. So whereas Whiteside is a better offensive player, rebounder and shotblocker than Gobert, and perhaps even more athletic, I can see him being 2 points overall higher. If anything, Whiteside could be UNDERrated... and I'm sure the reason is sample size, even though he played roughly 50 games last year.

That's all I'll say about that, as this is not really a ratings discussion thread.
