The most impressive boost of confidence and pre-release news that I have seen so far, is LIVE 16 allowing the game to be played by the masses, for free, 10 days ahead of the competition's release.. This is Huge for Live's credibility going forward and shows their confidence in their own product this year, especially when comparing to the last couple of game release strategies. They are throwing a huge gauntlet down this year at the feet of their competition.

I laughed and cringed when I read this because I immediately had flashbacks to the dumpster fire that was Elite. God I hope history doesn't repeat itself.

I'm always the guy amongst my friends who tells everyone to give Live a chance. But wow. This dev team is always three or four steps behind where they should be. A game mode built around a PvE experience? The whole point of having an OTP game mode in your game is to allow users to play against other users. Summer Circuit seems rather pointless to me.

As for Live Run, sure, by having a solid infrastructure in place that allows for height and weight restrictions at each position and the ability to gain attribute points/XP by playing the game mode online, EA has improved on two fundamental flaws of the competitor's MyPark Mode from last year. The problem is, the competition obviously saw that a streetball/park experience wasn't what much of the basketball video game consumer base wanted. That's why they in essence resurrected Crew with their Pro-Am Mode. That's what the majority of people wanted.

Had EA just had the EASBL (with Live Run on the side as an OTP type mode for those that prefer streetball) with height and weight restrictions and the ability to earn XP while playing club online as opposed to only being able to earn XP offline, they would have, in the minds of many gamers, bested 2K. EA is and will always be the superior company when it comes to server quality in relation to online play. They needed to take advantage of that. Sadly, the dev team once again took what should be a strength for the company (online play) and turned it into a weakness.

This is definitely what I've been waiting for with this game. I love head to head with NBA players, but it's just something about creating my own player and battling others that has always intrigued me. 2Ks mypark was awesome but it's just not balanced enough for me. Hopefully this mode is exactly what I've been waiting for. I really want Live to do well this year!

Honestly I had no problem with last year's game. My only gripes were automatic paint points and a messed up shooting system. If they could have tweaked those things I would've been happy.

If these can be answered ,

How easy is it to score in the paint? Any stupid warping around defense like In 15?

How easy is it to get a steal? Like 15? I don't mind losing the ball, I just don't want situations like in the other game where people don't get ripped when they should .

How is the paint defense? /post game?

Thanks

Competition is always great.
TBH, based on the server stability and online experience, 2K's Pro-Am can't compete with EA's at all unless 2K can make some great improvement to solve the input lag and online delay.

This is one thing ea does well, all the modes and glitz and glamour and stuff, nothing beats a good ole world map where u can chose state and country,

Will we see teams stacked with 7 footers or will there be some restrictions there as well?

Sean – NOPE! There are height/weight and skill caps based on the size and position of your created player. No 7-foot athletic wing players draining 3’s in NBA LIVE!

Sean – Rising Star is the only other game mode other than LIVE Pro-Am where you can earn SP/RP and this is a game where you have to earn your XP. No $$ to buy your created players. We call it sweat equity. You’ve got to spend the time in the game playing and progressing in order to level up, which we feel makes for a level playing field for all players.

SHOTS FIRED!! I LOVE IT! I wish 2k wasn't so money hungry and took out this too.

I probably won't buy it since I've always been a 2k guy, but I'm glad there is competition again! 2K has been slacking.

More courts to be added later. Hmmm, The Drew League maybe? Hope so!

Love this feature! Although, still want the gameplay and speed of the game consistent as regular practice or game mode, i.e....don't want the Pro Am mode to be a cartoonish/super-arcady type of mode, if you will. Back in the day, NBA Street was pretty cool but way too arcady and silly for me. That being said, man, with no NCAA Football and a good Madden coming out, plus the NBA games--customers should not complain. I've seen videos of 2K and Live 16, and both look amazing...as well as gameplay. About time EA steps up their game!

So it looks like all of this is strictly online? I would love to have a single player mode with the Pro-Am features. I just don't play enough to be competitive online.

Live run appears online solo ir co-op only, while Summer circuit seems like an offline solo/co-op mode from the interview. Is that correct?.

Live Run is (up to) 10 players PVP (players versus players)

Summer circuit is (up to) 5 players PVE where you and your buddies go up against the AI. (coop mode)

It sounds like this will be a good mode for the casual/arcade basketball fan like what 2k has been focused on for their online offering for many years now.

ProjectLeet,

Will Live have any co-op modes that offer a more nba simulation basketball experience? Where you can use created players and nba players inside arenas with full nba rules and where games aren't just limited to 21 and games that use simulation sliders?

Has anybody seen anything about 2 controllers on the same team like player lock for dynasty. "Couch Co-op"
