NBA 2K's Weekly Twitch Stream Talks Gamescom, NBA 2K16 2K Pro-Am Mode & More

Visual Concepts' Community Managers, Chris Manning and Ronnie Singh, just finished their regular Tuesday Twitch stream. This week, the duo discussed NBA 2K16's plans for Germany's upcoming Gamescom convention, plus they answered several community questions about the recently revealed 2K Pro-Am mode.

If you don't want to watch the entire 47-minute broadcast, here is a summary of the stream:

Notes

The 2K Pro-Am mode will have "eSports elements," which will be discussed in more detail at a later date.
There won't be any "Got Next" spots in 2K Pro-Am mode, even in the 40-person arena. Ronnie said that all the player icons moving around NBA 2K15's Rec Center were causing the lag in that mode, not the 40-person player load.
The developers are making sure that the fill-in AI players on 2K Pro-Am mode will be "mediocre," so that lineups with more human players will always have a competitive advantage.
The "ELO" leaderboard system is designed to reward teams who are beating other highly ranked teams. Wins against low-ranked teams won't count as much.
2K's marketing schedule is "really, really close" to releasing NBA 2K16's first gameplay videos. Some screenshots of the cover athletes (James Harden, Stephen Curry, and Anthony Davis) will appear on Facebook tonight at 9:00 PM PST.
More of the new historic teams that have been added to NBA 2K16 will be announced later this week. The 1999-2000 Toronto Raptors, 2000-2001 Los Angeles Lakers, and 2007-2008 Boston Celtics have already been revealed.
There is no playable NBA 2K16 demo at Gamescom this year. Ronnie's reasoning for this decision was that the gamers attending this conference generally are not NBA fans.

I have a feeling the throwback team will be a reggie miller team since they are taking that info to gamescom and want to make it big

not the biggest online player, so im not a fan of the idea of cpu teammates being "mediocre"; unless thats based on the quality of players chosen vs players getting watered down.

Cool that we get to hear a couple more classic teams this week.

I guess they did not really touch on the customization part, as that was not mentioned in the notes. I guess we really are going to have to wait until MyLeague/MyGM info drops to know if all that awesomeness is included in those modes.

Live showed gameplay at e3, besides those offscreen camera phone bootleg leaked vids don't do the games justice really, it's better you see gameplay more naturally. That's not to say the highlight package both companies put out isn't misleading but I think they'll definitely show the game running on a console well before release.

I just want them to address stat and height caps per position for mycareer this year. I don't wanna face 3 7' 99 SFs and 2 7'3 99 Cs in ProAm due to there being no position restrictions

No mention if any classic teams were removed? If we have all the current classic teams (the ones available in 2k15) as well as the additional ones they add this year I'll be pumped. We'll be able to have some great cross generational matchups. If we are losing some classic teams in order to make room for the news ones it would be disappointing.

Hopefully we at least get a gameplay trailer this week.at this point i think 2k has released more info about WWE 2K16 than they have about NBA 2k16

So no demo because people who play aren't nba fans lol aren't they also trying to show off the game to bring in new players as well? To me it just sounds like they don't want leaked footage, which is cool and I understand that but man that excuse is just fishy to me. Oh well the wait continues =(

Maybe it's because people are the game is **** and total crap because of the guys that are playing. I have seen it before.

Yea every time footage gets leaked some guy who doesn't know how to play makes it looks worse with the bad quality . We will get the trailer around the the 25th of August and then after that things will really pick up like always .

I'm really excited to see who the other classic teams are in the game. Now if we can get some quality to the players to go along with it I'll be fine. That Allen Iverson that they use for the Sixers team just ain't cutting it.

Hopefully pro am brings fair, BALANCE, competition but If i see just one center lighting up 3s and dunking like crazy on good defense, we have a serious problem.
