Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR News Post

Free courses are coming to Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

For those of you that didn't pre-order the game, TPC Scottsdale is scheduled to arrive on August 11. Users that did pre-order have only been able to play the course in Play Now. When the course releases to everyone on August 11, it will be available in Play Now, Tour Pro career, and online modes.

The same goes for East Lake Golf Club, host of the PGA TOUR FedExCup TOUR Championship by Coca Cola. It is scheduled to arrive at the end of September.

A step in the right direction! AND both are available in Career Mode!

I hate to be that guy, but why did I pre-order this game? Thanks for the four week incentive on having TPC Scottsdale that could only be used in Play It Now.

Ok... it's a start. I do wish there was a second in addition to East Lake since I already have Scottsdale from the pre-order. Slow start, but a good start nonetheless..

I wonder if that means there's a patch coming up though. Because I have Scottsdale. It wasn't on my career schedule through the first season. Hopefully it doesn't mean we have to restart career mode though.

There will be an update because otherwise there would be no way to incorporate both into Career Mode. My guess is East Lake will show up at the end of the season and Scottsdale before the Spring Invitational....

My thoughts exactly. Maybe HANDSWARD can chime in? I now feel as if we essentially got nothing in return for our loyalty to the game/EA.

Just used my extra 50% coupon to trade this debacle in. Gamestop gave me my $60 back, thank god.

Figured as much.

Hopefully it doesn't require us restarting career mode then.

I like that they are giving us a course, not two because I have one of them just no use for it in any mode I play, but I hope the updates have a little more to them in the future.

I was just thinking it would be nice if the courses for the FedEx Cup were released at or around the end of August so we could play those.

The I figured maybe EA could release a couple courses a month or so, to add to the Tour experience. Such as Torrey, Pebble, and Spyglass in January. PGA National and TPC San Antonio, Doral, for the March tournaments, and so in through next year at about this point.

I understand why we didn't get the other two playoff courses, those are new this year I believe, but they could have given us Bethpage, Liberty National, Crooked Stick, Cog Hill, all have been on some version of PGA Tour over the years.

But, it's a start, and I will gladly accept it.

I am starting to think about doing the same. If I could get a similar deal, I will trade my game in. I can probably repurchase, if proper additions are made, later in the year at a discount. The good thing if that I have held off starting my career due to the set up. For me, no point in starting if they will add to it. 6 months from now it might be worth the investment.

No amount of courses will make this a good game. EA probably pushed up the release of Scottsdale due to the terrible reviews. This is EA's way of saying "Sorry our game sucks, so here's some free stuff that should have been in the game in the first place". Nice try EA, but your game still sucks.

Not impressed. They need to put out more than 1 course a month. At this rate I will get the game 8+ months from now and pay $15 for it.. Good deal for me I guess.

if EA releases a paid DLC course pack with Torry Pines, Pinehurst, Pebble Beach and say like Spyglass Hill, (All Tiger Woods classic courses) I will be furious

I would gladly pay for those. When it comes to my gaming and the actual sport of Golf, I don't mind paying for more. However, I do agree those should be a free DLC.....

You don't have to go to Amazon to find vitriolic feedback, it's been pretty vitriolic here I personally don't think the game was ready for prime time myself, but I do see some strong potential for it.

I can't see EA releasing another golf game after the reviews and feedback this one has got. It's their own fault to be honest.
They won't have to if they can't get this game polished and refined a bit. It's got to happen fairly quickly though in order to turn the sour public sentiment around. This is the first EA Sports golf game I haven't bought on release day since Tiger Woods 2004, but there are only three relatively easily curable fixes I'm waiting on before I buy it. Once they're in place, I'll be onboard.

This is a small but necessary gesture to smooth over a user base that's feeling a little bit snubbed right now. I'm inferring from this that the first patch will likely not be released until the August 11th now, since one will be needed to work Scottsdale into the Season mode? I was kind of hoping a patch would come through before then with the proposed swing changes Handsward was speaking of last week, among other things. I'm also hoping for an option to turn the swing meter off in the game settings in the first patch, but it didn't sound like that would be part of the first patch based on his response to that question.

Anyway, it now looks like I'll at least be waiting until August 11th for a purchase, but even then, only if the patch addresses the deal-breaker issues I currently have with it.

I picked up the digital copy of this game on release day, big mistake on my part. I'm more than a little disappointed in what the game offers and two extra coursed in the next two months does very little to help. I suppose it's a start but I've since deleted the game to make way for completed games on my system. I'm more upset with myself for buying the game than anything else. The got me with Live and now this. Hopefully by Christmas I'll have a reason to install and play the game again.

# 19 Hunkerdown @ 07/28/15 11:47 AM
I went to play test for Live and got this game for free, it is definitely worth it for me. I hope they continue to release additional courses to add to career mode, which hopefully you will not have to restart career to use? No details on how they are going to do this? If they added the ability to customize schedule it would be a huge plus. I think just playing rounds of golf, this game is fun. I will continue just playing rounds this way or playing some rounds online. Table the career mode for hopefully a more in depth experience.
