Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR News Post

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour wasn't reviewed in the greatest light earlier this week from us, but we wanted to give the online options a bit more time before writing any opinions on how they're stacking up. Not since Tiger Woods 14 have fans of the sport of Golf had an outlet to play golf online, at least on a console. The tagline for the game claims that users can hit the links, and “golf without limits”. While that tagline may be catchy, it’s not necessarily correct.

What does Rory McIlroy PGA Tour offer fans who have waited so long to hit the digital course online? Let's dive in and find out.

Scottsdale likely not going to be seen in online modes til Sept 14th when everyone has access to it as it will be free to all users then.

I would expect at least 2-3 other courses to be released on the same date & an update to incorporate them into career.

I have played the Tiger Woods golf games since CyberTiger back in 1999. I am not a stranger to having expectations shattered when EA's new iterations are released. And it is always at its worst when they have to develop for the new generation of systems.

What I have have always found to be true is EA likes to take the easy way out and lower the bar all the way down so as they slowly add all the stripped features back to the game it becomes a great game again. Unfortunately, that happens towards the end of the consoles cycle.

As they retain the exclusive license to the PGA, they have less competition hence less desire or need to bend over backwards and do the right thing like make a really great golf title. If you want to play "official" PGA licensed golf you have to put up with whatever they decide to slop on the plate.

I can cut them some slack this time since they really did switch engines finally and to Frostbite to boot ( wish Madden would follow ).
