Trio of Award-Winning Producers Bring the Beat to NBA® 2K16 Soundtrack

DJ Mustard, DJ Khaled and DJ Premier collaborate to create biggest soundtrack in NBA 2K history, including six new exclusive tracks

2K today announced that NBA 2K16, the newest iteration of the top-rated video game simulation series for the last 15 years*, will feature the most extensive soundtrack in NBA 2K history with three genre-defining collaborators at the helm - legendary hip-hop producer DJ Premier, renowned producer DJ Khaled, and super-producer DJ Mustard. As one of the most successful entertainment properties of the last decade, NBA 2K16’s partnership brings together their unique creative direction in curating more than 50 tracks and contributing a total of six new exclusive tracks to this year’s title.
  • “I am excited to be a part of the ongoing series of NBA 2K. As a sports fan, it was already fun before the work began. NBA 2K16 will be another big hit, especially alongside DJ Mustard and DJ Khaled bringing our different musical styles to the game.” - DJ Premier
  • “I am honored to collaborate with NBA 2K, which is such a distinguished brand and one of my favorite video games. Basketball and music are two of my favorite things, and I'm excited to light up the soundtrack with my signature sound. Expect the hottest tracks and of course hit music when you press the start button on NBA 2K16! We The Best! Who?!!! NBA 2K16 that's who!!!!” – DJ Khaled
  • “It’s an honor and a blessing to be part of the NBA 2K musical family alongside legends like Pharrell, Jay Z, DJ Premier and DJ Khaled.” - DJ Mustard
NBA 2K16’s soundtrack will be comprised of six in-game playlists, including three lists individually curated by each producer, an international “Around the World” playlist, the 2K Classics Mixtape featuring fan favorites from previous 2K titles, and a master playlist that includes all 50 tracks from this year’s selection. The expansive music library spans a wide range of genres, including hip-hop, electronic, pop, rock and alternative, from throwback tracks from the ‘70s through today’s Top 40, including The Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop,” Nas’ “Represent,” and Zedd’s “I Want You to Know” featuring Selena Gomez.

Gamers will also have the opportunity to listen to all-new instrumental tracks created by each producer, which will be available in-game at various points during the MyPLAYER and MyGM experiences.

“As we continue to identify ways to elevate the NBA 2K franchise for our fans, we wanted to give them more options and choices than ever before with this year’s soundtrack,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Marketing for NBA 2K. “By bringing these influential producers onboard, fans will be able to experience in-game music in unique, customizable ways.”

Developed by Visual Concepts, NBA 2K16 is not yet rated by the ESRB. NBA 2K16 will be available for PlayStation®4 system and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Xbox 360; and Windows PC platforms on September 29, 2015.

Fans can pre-order NBA 2K16 at participating North American retail and online vendors, ensuring they receive their copy and in-game bonuses ahead of the game’s September 29 release date. I've definitely heard his work and it's unimpressive. I guess you shouldn't expect much from a guy named 'DJ Mustard'. This is the part in my post before last where it must have went past your mental capacity. I was referring to his name being unprofessional and goofy and that his work matches. Anyways, You still listen to the radio in 2015?

Bruh why are u getting upset? I would apologize to u for assuming you didn't know who he was but now you're just being a douche. It's not that serious take a chill pill. Lol

And for the record I don't listen to mainstream radio rap like that but I'm not going to discredit Mustard like that. Mainstream or not he got some dope tracks. And since when was it a requirement for hip hop artists and producers to have a professional sounding name to be taken seriously. I'm sure Eazy E, 2pac, Jay-Z, Tech 9, Eminem, Yelawolf, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris all sounds professional. Not.

Ban incoming?

# 106 SeaTownGamer @ 07/10/15 06:51 PM
I don't think nyqu1st should be banned. He didn't say anything to hurt my feelings. And I'm pretty sure I didn't step on his toes.

Not knocking on country but it just doesn't blend well with the sport of basketball. Rodeo or Monster Trucks yes. But basketball it just doesn't go together like water and cereal. Yeah some may like water with cereal but it just sounds off. That is how I view basketball and country.

Wasn't going to get 2k16, not a huge fan of 2K15 but until they implement cross-year saves I won't buy another one, purely because I only play it for myPlayer and just get about 2-4 seasons in a year, no point really. Might as well carry on with the one I've already got.

This is pretty cool, look forward to seeing what songs are there. As for country I would love to hear some Boot Scooting Boogie while i'm going through the lane hitting my crossing over, going behind the back and dunking on fools.

But really I've only heard of DJ Premier and couldn't tell you what songs he's made, love hip hop and all kinds of music. Having more music and options is never a bad thing, it's best for all of us. No matter how many songs there are I'm going to do what I always do after playing the game and hearing songs for awhile and that's turn menu music down, turn off most of the music and just play the ones I really like.

We all have that option folks why complain about it?

Premo and Khalid I'm going to enjoy Being an 80's baby, never heard of mustard, but I'm sure he will do fine. I'm excited for the 29th of September.( Already pre-ordered). As more features come out I'll be looking forward to more. Spike Lee and Now these 3.

No offense to country fans but most bball fans like hip hop or pop maybe. Country is always in wwe games, mlb games, and the mx vs atv games.

As longs as, they put them 2K11 & 2K12 basketball tracks, or any Basketball songs , then we good, the last three , did not have no Basketball songs in the game, you cant have game, without Basketball music period.

# 115 evanreyes @ 07/12/15 06:40 PM
It's gonna be all rap/hip hop, isn't it?
Legit question, I don't know who these guys are.

# 116 evanreyes @ 07/12/15 06:49 PM
I think that 2K12 had a pretty good selection of music.
FIFA generally has pretty good music.
I just hope that they keep mixing in different genres, like they have been these past couple of years. But, some of the non-hip-hop songs were bad. I don't know why they decided to put the most annoying Red Hot Chili Peppers song in last year.

Not big on rap/hip hop but Nas, Ny state of mind has to make it in, that track and Illmatic in general are just lethal.

Hopefully Premo can bring some underground tracks to the game. 2k has been going mainstream soundtrack wise since 2k12 and enough is enough! Lorde and Robin Thicke do not belong in a basketball video game, but AT LEAST Lil wayne hasn't been in it YET lol
