Madden NFL 16 News Post

It all happened on one glorious looking play. The pocket collapsed from Bridgewater's left side, and with nobody open, he rolled to his right. He has Rudolph open with a little room to spare on the sideline, but the entire defense is swinging back around. Bridgewater fires it, and what normally would have been an easy throw and catch became a fight for the ball. Rudolph moved inward, laying flat-out for the football, but an opposing defender swooped in and knocked it to the ground before the ball could even reach Rudolph's finger-tips.

This play isn't something that's unusual in the realm of NFL football, but it's definitely not something you see every day in Madden. The gameplay has the potential - though it doesn't always reach this potential - to be smooth and realistic looking.

Even if the sack issue is reduced such that one could user-play every game and come up with less than 75 sacks (I'd love to see bad teams struggle to get to 30 for the season!), super high completion percentages will significantly lessen the immersion factor.

This alone has me thinking I'll forego a day-one purchase to see just how fixable this issue is or is not with sliders.
I think this is a good idea. Until I see some passes hit the ground without touching anything else, it's really hard to imagine the passing game being where it needs to be.

Sliders can fix that though. I'm just hoping I dont have to go to extremes with the sliders to get that to happen this year.

Does anyone know if we will be able to import rosters from Madden 15 to Madden 16??

Working penalties alone puts this game on my radar. I hope they fixed the profile glitch from 15 where profiles were randomly deleted.
Ben- Do you know if coach mode is still an option?

Im confused because in all the gameplay videos I've seen so far, QBs are missing throws pretty frequently. I thought that was one of the best things about Madden 16 is that QBs would actually miss throws for once. But then you had this to say:

|QB's regularly rifle throws right where they need to be, which the only exception being passes upwards of 30 yards. The only time incompletions happen are on knock-downs and interceptions.

How can it be so different compared to the gameplay videos I've seen?

This write up encourages me , I'm all about gameplay being as realistic and functioning as possible and balancing the money plays sound good well. Seems like this team at Tiburon is invested in improving gameplay but I'll wait and see a few months after it comes out. Every year we have something "encouraging" to say about each rendition and stuff never pans out.The tell of the tape will be in August

Anything on injuries? Can we manually injure players like on The Show?

I love this bullet point, "Paying close attention to the offensive line and player ratings, there's a noticeable difference in who you're running or passing behind."

What concerns me, as I read the posts in this thread, is that many of the slider making people are figuring that things like QB accuracy can be adjusted with sliders, as before, but now I am thinking, if penalties are actually working in game, adjusting those certain sliders to get a realistic passing game could add a whole new world of frustrations in other areas when trying to balance out teh game and maintain a proper penalty level in game..

This was a good write up on Madden 16. Although it's unfortunate that there are still things that are needing to be fixed, at least we know what to expect now with Madden. The hope is that one year there'll be a Madden that'll blow us out of our seats like it used to when we were growing up. I guess our generation was spoiled with innovation. Maybe someday that can happen again where we have that true NFL sim experience. With that being said I'm still looking forward to playing this, we don't have any other options.

I cant wait for the game. I hope that the qb accuracy is curtailed to reflect their real life counter parts.

Yeah, I almost guarantee finding a balanced set will be tougher this year but this site has the best in the business so we should,be good

There could be a zillion reasons for this, but I'll assume it's the most likely one: there's been an extremely small sample size of available video, and I was only able to play a limited amount of games.

Keep in mind, these impressions are entirely based on reactionary opinions I had after playing the game for a few hours. I could be off on some things and right about others.

Edit: In regards to a coach mode, there was no indication that they'd removed it from the game.

I really don't get why they choose to do this, seems lazy to me.
The CPU does both the catch and pass break up animations. It's not just for the user. The new QB movement applies to both the user and CPU as well. I'm not sure why true step doesn't apply to everyone either, maybe they're still trying to get it to where it works for all 22? Just a thought.

Quick question. Does anyone know if madden 16 will allow import of madden 15 custom playbook? I spend a lot of time each each build an offensive and defensive playbook and would like to start with last year's playbook as a base to start adding some of the 600 new plays.

I would have loved to hear if EA actually worked on the sliders this year. They have been really bad the last few years where they had minimal effect. We should never see slider sets with 0 or 100 in them since that means they are far too weak. And we shouldn't have debates if a slider is reversed or not since it works so poorly that we can't tell.

I'd like to see new sliders for kick returns as well. The CPU has always been terrible returning kicks with 99% of kickoff returns never making it past the 30.

I hope. Don't get me wrong I liked M15 a good deal but M16 looks to be even better.
As long as EA keeps taking the game forward I'll be happy.

The main test for me if if I can get a great SP experience from the CPU AI.

If you remotely like M15 I would find it almost impossible for someone to not enjoy M16 more. I can barely stand 15 after playing 16.
