Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 News Post

We haven't heard much about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 since the first look from Game Informer over a month ago.

Gameslice uploaded some gameplay footage from the game, which includes an interview between Geoff Keighley and Tony Hawk, recorded from YouTube Live at E3.

Here are some bullet points:
  • The online mode will feature 20 players online at the same time
  • Create your own park
  • Classic parks like The School and Warehouse are in, along with new parks
  • Longtime fans will be comfortable with the button layout and control system
  • 60 FPS
  • Lengthy playlist/soundtrack covering many genres, but still rooted in skate culture and punk rock
  • Riley Hawk was mo-capped, face and body scanned, complete with hair and tattoos
  • The game will not be available to play at E3 publicly, but it will be available behind the scenes
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 doesn't have an official release date yet, but it is scheduled to be released later this year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releasing shortly afterwards.

UPDATE: A new "behind the scenes" gameplay video from Resero Trailers shows even more gameplay and also reveals the create-a-park feature. The video also shows a release date of October 2 (Europeean release date), leading to speculation that September 29 could be the release date for North America.

UPDATE #2: Tony Hawk has confirmed the release date. September 29 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, later for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Can't believe a game on next gen looks that bad, still might get if if gameplay is good. I wish there was a skate 4 tho lol.

I think the main problem is that the Pro Skater series itself is a bit dated. I'd much rather see a huge city with spots to skate, like EA's Skate and Skate 2 did. This round of systems should be more than capable.

That being said, you kind of sense they are taking the cautious approach and that is understandable. Maybe if the game does well they can start building some momentum and eventually bring gamers a skating game more suited for today's technology.

The gameplay in this looks decent enough, and the create a park feature could easily give it some solid value.

Looking forward to this one, but keeping my expectations in check.

That looked pretty bad to me. Sad that these parks are still devoid of any other signs of life in this generation of gaming. One of the things I liked about Skate

I can live with the old school play of THPS, but what I don't like are the weird visual effects with the board like you have star power or something, and the magnetized grinding.
