You’ll have Confidence in Defending, take Control in Midfield, and you’ll produce more Moments of Magic than ever before. FIFA 16 – Play Beautiful.

Confidence In Defending

FIFA 16 gives you the tools to stop your opponent with confidence. Move with greater freedom as a defender - rely on your team to defend as a unit, and your back line to track menacing runs to create balance between attacking and defending.

Defensive Agility

Use 25 innovative feature changes to mobility and locomotion to track skilled players. Mobile defenders can close down space and change direction quickly using swing-step behavior to stay with your opponent. You'll feel freedom of movement as you track runs and look to break up attacks.

Defend as a Unit

Defend together, win together. Rely on your teammates to cover gaps when you close down an attacker. New defensive AI gives players better awareness of dangerous space on the pitch relative to the ball and their opponent. Your teammates will track back to stop sophisticated attacking runs, and close down angles of attack.

Games are won and lost in the midfield - in FIFA 16, the midfield matters. Stay in possession with patient build-up play or ping clinical passes through space to start an attack.

Interception Intelligence

Players anticipate passes and move to shut down options and close passing channels. Smarter teammates will look for space and allow more opportunities to build play through the midfield.

Passing With Purpose

A revolution in passing. FIFA 16 lets you play sharp, incisive passes so you can find teammates with precision. Using a new mechanic, ping driven ground passes to find teammates in tight spaces to open up your attacking options.

No Touch Dribbling

The best touch can be the one you don't take. Free yourself from the ball to buy time, create separation, feint, and blow by your defender just as Messi does when he is at his best – it’s near limitless creativity on the ball.

Learn More

Dynamic Crossing

Send that cross in! Authentic crosses let you find teammates with greater accuracy. Attacking players run onto and attack the ball with intent, making defenses scramble as crosses are played behind the back line with vicious intent.

Hmmm. Looks exactly the same as 15. Need to see more and actual gameplay also.

Let's just hope that this is just the features for gameplay. I really hope EA didn't give career mode the shaft again.

Disappointed doesn't begin to describe my feelings.

ZERO mention of manager mode. Konami likely gets my money this year

Whos on the edge?

Konami blew everyone away with a fantastic reveal.

EA's reveal is boring, lacks anything new and interesting, and make the game and series look stale and boring.

I'm over the moon with konami and excited to play PES 16. Not on the edge or ledge. Just bored with EA.

Don't they just touch on gameplay improvements, buzzwords, and similar items each year at E3?

I don't recall EA announcing many features outside of that at E3 each year.

Looked like centurylink field was there at :20 mark, hope we get more stadiums, but I kinda feel centurylink is because of the ea/ms partnership

FWIW:

The Futhead guys are really big (and really critical) on FIFA gameplay, in the above article they're already touting 16 as a significant leap forward and the best in the series. Then again, they're also known for getting hyped early and posting lengthy complaint articles around launch.

One thing they mentioned that did make me happy was slower gameplay. Every year I have to crank FIFA (and PES) down to the slowest speed to get a fairly well-paced game, maybe this will finally be a thing of that past.

Was PES reveal really that great? Yes, Neymar's face was spot on but PES already had some really good faces. However, from the neck down through to the environment, PES looks very cartoonish. I think many are wanting PES to succeed and FIFA to fail. To me, both look promising. FIFA has longer to go in terms of gameplay while PES has a long way to go to catch up graphically.

Not a single glimpse of Serie A?

Looking good! Looks like two outstanding options again. Considering the complete and total lack of competition in most sports genres, Konami and EA are both going to get my money this year because they clearly have two different ideas for the sport and, early hype or not, seemed to have nailed their respective visions.

Standing ovay for both but as an aside, all over OS, I have read for years "don't care about fluff, work on the gameplay". This goes for every sports game. Well, that list looks hearty to me, with alot of gameplay improvements. I think EA can do no right by some, no matter the direction they choose.

The only thing stopping me from buying new sports games every year is the inability to carry forward MyPlayer saves. For me, the lack of this in the 2016 titles is hugely disappointing

Noticed that too. Maybe we'll get all MLS stadiums this year since FIFA is made in Vancouver and has historically had a strong relationship with MLS.

Biggest things for me are game play and a good career mode.

Fifa had an edge in Career Mode (I think) and pes had more realistic and better game play.

So far it seems that konami is committed to upgrading their career more in a big way. That speaks volumes to me... In the same way that ea mentioned mm exactly never.

I hope that changes. Especially after the change career mode campaign on Twitter that was acknowledged by Fifas boss.

Noted visual improvements, from the article I posted earlier:

• New player modelling tech has allowed EA to size individual body parts when creating players. This results in vastly improved player models in terms of realism, proportion and uniqueness.

• New player head and eye tracking tech, allows them to follow the flight of the ball.

• Vanishing spray for free kicks has been added with appropriate referee animations.

• New lighting technology throughout the game.

• New texturing model to remove the "plastic" look from player faces.

• Two new weather types - foggy and hazy.

• For the first time, long hair is now fully animated.

• Time of day logic improved, meaning you'll naturally see dusk, etc more often.

• You can now run over and celebrate with the camera man, ala Gerrard.

I half-expected player model improvements, based on the women alone. And the faces do seem quite improved in the trailer.

The new weather types sound interesting. Playing in the fog would be cool.

I was hoping to read something about player ID and team ID. Another year of FIFA missing this as Konami continues to add to this, making the players play and feel different from one another. Just why? Is it too difficult for EA to do? Even if they didn't get the amount of players that Konami has done, I wouldn't mind as long as expand on it. Team ID is another thing that I just don't get.

We'll see how it goes, I like FIFA on what they bring with it's atmosphere, commentary, and it's a fun game to play..but I was really hoping they had that stuff in.

I remember last year when they made the game emotions such a big thing I knew it would just be a little thing in the game and it really was tbh.

Overall I really love what I'm seeing and reading on the gameplay side of things, and truth be told, gameplay is first and foremost what matters. Get that right, get the football right, and I'm happy. I'm sure they'll be lots more over the coming months, always is but right now I'm pretty stoked.
