PES 2016 News Post

According to an image tweeted out by Marvin Ronsdorf, head of Prorevo, we will get plenty of PES 2016 details on Friday, June 12th.

We know the game will feature the most licensed teams and leagues than ever before and Jim Beglin is returning to work on the commentary for the game.

With that said, what are you hoping to hear about?

Hoping they finally license all the EPL teams and include the J-League

I'm hoping to hear about changes to Master League and Become a Legend, and hopefully see what the game looks like in its second year with the Fox Engine. I'm hoping for a good to great leap visually since they focussed on gameplay last year.

I'm keeping my license expectations extremely low. If anything it will probably be more South American leagues, where PES holds the most influence.

That and more Asian licenses. Considering Konami has J-League exclusivity, they should be leveraging that more.

Please excuse my ignorance, but is there any chance PES gets the FIFA licenses?
Or is that an exclusive deal with EA?

I loved MLB2K, NHL2K, Fight Night and all are defunct.

Reading reviews about PES makes me think of NHL2K3 with how organic and realistic it was.

I know next to nothing about soccer, but the reviews are great for this game.
I'm considering picking up '15 on the cheap.
I would consider '16 if they at least had the MLS license.

In short, probably not.

Yeah, this is one of those situations where you have to look past the licenses and just appreciate the gameplay. The good news is that PES is highly editable, so it is technically possible to recreate MLS, or at least some bare bones form of it. But without option files on current-gen, you're looking at a considerable amount of time rebuilding all of those teams and players.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I don't think having fake teams or players will affect me since the only player I know is Messi and I couldn't name two teams beyond Liverpool and Machester United.

So it really doesn't affect me, haha.

I just figured if they had MLS it would be easy to follow and study because it's on TV in Canada.

Thanks again for the answers!

I hope the focus is solely on gameplay. There's a reason there is no PC editing community on evo-web this year, the gameplay for 2014 and 2015 were just off. Go back to the basics of PES 11-13, that's what I am hoping to hear.

They have to continue to build off the foundation they have laid with '14 & '15 utilizing the Fox Engine. It's a process and everything needs to looked at. From menus to presentation to master league/BAL to gameplay, h2h servers, etc...

Hoping, more like dreaming. There's no chance in hell that PES will have every BPL team licensed any time soon if ever. What I would like to see is them add the MLS and Liga MX along with the CONCACAF Champions League. And when I say add MLS, I mean with the playoffs and possibly an amateur draft along with it. Also, I hope the graphics are upgraded from PES 2015. I would be very disappointed if they decided to keep the same look of 2015.

I doubt the MLS jumps to PES. Little do people know but just how the Premier League is heavily partnered with EA, the MLS wants that same relationship. EA is a club partner with the Whitecaps, Sounders and NYCFC and the MLS know that one of the best ways for them to market their product is through EA.

PES needs to leverage the leagues that EA has ignored, specifically Eastern Europe (Greece, Czech Republic, Ukraine and other Eastern European clubs) and Asia (J League, Mainland China and that new Indian Super League).

Essentially, what PES need to do is appease the fans that feel left out by FIFA. EA don't put enough attention on Africa and Asia, so Konami needs to take advantage of that. I like that PES has all these club competitions but they do need to work with UEFA to ensure all 32 clubs that reach the 2015/16 UCL are in the game. Even if they can't license the club for regular play, make sure they are included for the UCL Mode (as they've already been doing for the Libertadores and AFC Champions League.

The EA-MLS license was exclusive at one point, so who knows if it still is or isn't. Even if it isn't, EA is invested in several MLS clubs as you stated, so that is highly unlikely. IMO it makes no difference- the lack of an EPL license is the killer for Konami.

Completely agree with this post. PES 15 on the xbox one is very unnapealing from a visual stand point, it looks like a last gen game. The framerate also isn't very good.

I just want to get more fouls, cards and better goalkeepers. That's all. I don't care so much about licenses, because the option files fix that, and the gameplay is just fine

Agreed. I used to fire up the demo on both consoles at the same time using the same teams and the ps4 looked much more crisp and clean. Hopefully another year with the tech and MS will be able to get 1080.

What needs to happen this year, is the overall presentation has to be brought up to par. By that I mean the menu, music, commentary, overlays, everything. It feels dull playing PES for too long. And I really hate how the menus look and work. Also the most key thing here is getting rid of that bull**** replay system. I shouldn't have to skip three replay levels to get back to the action. Also there shouldn't be so much breakage in the action during game play. Ball goes out of bounds, hold on for 20 seconds while we reset and reload everything. That stuff needs to go.

As others have said, they also need to license all the leagues EA doesn't. Give us a reason to buy this on console. Options are non existent for PS4, so why am I buying two games? Make me want to buy and keep your game this year. I liked PES15, but I grew tired of it real quick.

They should also add option file sharing via their servers. Since its not possible on the ps4 user level, it has to be done in software. This is key. We need this. So the community can create/edit and share.

And last thing I'll bring up is the career mode. My god, please, please do something with this mode finally. Its been the same for years now. And its very stale. There is no real depth to it. The calendar system is a joke. How it handles transfers is a joke. Everything about it is boring to me at this point. It was fine back in the day. But now it frustrates me when comparing it to FIFA. I'm not saying FIFA is perfect, its very flawed also. But they need to make an effort.

I always really want to love PES. And I give it a fair shot every year. But every year come June, I only own FIFA still. They need to step their game back up to what it used to be. I think maybe its time for changes over at Konami, get some new people working on PES, a new director or something. Its gone stagnant. Ya they've made small changes year to year, and its improved greatly since 10, but not enough. Don't let me down this year, please.

As far as new leagues go, most likely will be South American and maybe a few Asian leagues. However, it won't be J-League since Konami did not renew the license.

I agree with Zo above, its time for a complete and total overhaul of the presentation. For me all 2015 was good for was playing one-off's. Everything else suffered badly due to the 1990's presentation.
